Looking for the best playstand for my baby!

We have a 4 month old male Congo African grey. We have his cage that has a playstand on top but are looking for a playstand. We've been thinking about going with the manzanita. Any thoughts, sandblasted or not, websites to order from, comments, suggestions?

 

Any help would be appreciated!

Have have a huge manzanita tree stand. It is not blasted, which is merely a preference. I got mine from a birdmart they put on every six months. You can always get the best deal at those. If however you do not have one with in driving range or that will not be happening for a long time, you can find them online for various prices.

Is manzanita the only type of playstand you recomend? The ones I've been looking at have been terribly expensive

I have a huge Java tree and Golden Cockatoo bird store has some nice Bottle brush playstands , I have 3 bottlebrush playstands and they are great , they have wheels and you can move them around easy to any room

there are some good examples of homemade ones on the thread 'homemade stands & toys', we made ours very cheep and Alfie loves it.

We have a sandblasted manzanita, one that isn't sandblasted, a java and a big dragonwood one we put together from swings. I love the dragonwood. Now, my big birds are a wee bit challanged so keep that in mind with my opinion/review of them. My greys are on the dragonwood and they have a good grip and some bark to chew. The other stands, sand blasted manzanita and java, are just too slick for the footing, my guys fall off of them alot, we had to add crype mertle branches for them to really grasp. Again, they both have a bad wing so their balance is not good. The other manzanita with the bark, encourages chewing and is no match for the U-2. With all that said, my grey Bongo, prefers his cheap rope and dowel swing from petsmart that hangs over our sink, so.... Lol

Mine is huge, I got it at the bird mart for $125. It is not sandblasted and neither my grey or conure have any slippage issues on it. Here is a video of it:

I agree with aw64, take a look in the toys and playstands room. Lots of ideas and advice there on making your own, which can be a lot less expensive. If you do want to buy, I like Java Wood because it is really durable and easy to clean. It is slippery, so for a baby I would wrap sections of it with vet wrap until baby is secure navigating it.

Although my baby doesn't come home for a week or two I got him a really nice playstand from wayfair.com It has a crap catcher and is really nice looking. Check it out. They have tons of toys too.

I had my neighbor make marcos and its made from pecan wood and its truly amazing and little by little we've added cool things to it, rope ladders and toys some seriously cool ones made w/pvc too ... check out the pics here thats where we got our ideas! very crafty ppl here
