Timbersmom Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Well, I finally located and was able to go to a bird fair. The nearest one was in Collinsville, IL, which is a couple of hours from me. It was great though! So much stuff and so many pretty birds. I met some nice people and got to see a lot of birds that I'd only seen in pics here on the forum before. I found a playstand for Timber, which I'd been shopping for, at a good price. I attached a pic of him finally starting to warm up to it. He has been staring at it for 24 hours now. I was able to lure him on to it with a piece of cheese and a paper towel roll (his favorite "toy").
JeffNOK Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Good looking playstand. Glad you had fun at the fair.
turtlepunk Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 I've been wanting to go to a bird fair too! I just missed one a few months ago and am really bummed about it! SUPER COOL PLAY STAND!!!!!
Ray P Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 I think a bird fair is just as much fun as a county fair and you can spend just as much money. lol
Timbersmom Posted August 6, 2012 Author Posted August 6, 2012 Haaaa... yes, I had to put a cap on my expenditures before I went in the door. I've done all my shopping online because there aren't any retail outlets around me. It was a lot different seeing it in person. It was also good to be able to see how stuff was really "put together" because it gave me some ideas about things I could do myself. I'm not very creative, but if I have a pattern in my head I can do it!
aerial.2000 Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 i would LOVE to go to a BIRD fair omg how fun does that sound!
Timbersmom Posted August 6, 2012 Author Posted August 6, 2012 Aerial, I didn't even know there was such an event until I saw someone posting about it. I googled it and found out there are a few within driving distance every year. Go for it!
judygram Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 The bird club I belong to has an annual bird fair where I pick up lots of toys and things for my fids, I love going to these.
