kave70
This cold, damp, gloomy day just got a lot better with a phone call from my Post Office. My baby chickens arrived and I just got them all home and settled. Happy day now! Does anyone else raise chickens? We have a flock of about 25, all free range. judygram
I used to have chickens when I was a kid and lots of times we got the baby chicks and raised them up to lay eggs but ours were kept in chicken houses all the time, I have never had any that just ran loose, we have coyotes and other predators that would make it very difficult to keep free range chickens alive unless they were penned up at night. kave70
Yes, we live in a similar area. We have a duck house and a hen house, but during the day the girls are free to eat all the ticks and other gross bugs. My dogs are excellent at keep away the predators, especially the foxes. Most of them even venutre out in the snow. We have kept chickens for more than 10 years now- best eggs ever. Karen
