Doug
Tree roots tend to have a much more complex and interesting structure than the branches do. Is there a risk of aspergillis using tree roots? If so, is there a safe way to treat the roots to eliminate the risk?
Kimijean
Are you going to dig up some innocent trees to get the roots?? LOL ) Kim
Talon
What do you mean by roots? Aren't roots unstable?
Doug
Maybe. I live near a national forest. With rivers. Hopefully I can find a small tree on river's edge, that I can identify (of course), that has been undercut along the river making it easy to get to... Talon
Well, if anyone can make it work, it will be you! I'm not that clever or creative. I bought my big mazanta tree from the Bird of Paradise store in NJ. It was used by them, and I got it for an incredibly cheap price compared to the new ones they had on display. it didnt look used to me.. But I cant wait to see what you come up with...") Talon
What do you mean by "unstable"? I'm thinking roots like roots from a small tree or plant, I guess you are thinking differently...
Kimijean
Good, at least the tree would survive. (You do know I'm joking right? LOL) Kim
Doug
There are no shortages of trees around here. I'm pretty sure one little tree won't be missed...

Doug
I spoke with the new avian vet in our area tonight about aspergillis and wood. She said that the roots don't have any more risk than the branches or trunks. The same precautions are required.

Hello, it is a good idea to use tree roots as play stand.I really don't think there is risk of aspergillis using tree roots. Also, having branches for this purpose is not a bad idea.
