Safe padlock for cage

Has anyone found somewhere that sells bird safe padlocks for cage doors. I think it is only a matter of time before Herbie works out how to open the door of his cage. I have some padlocks but am worried they may contain zinc or lead etc in the covering.

hmmm really not sure. We use some out at the farm on some cages from the hardware store. But no clue.

You can purchase Stainless Steel Padlocks at most Hardware stores.

 

I did for my Cage also. To keep children out and the Grey in. :-)

dan is right, stainless steel is the only way to go, give them a good scrub with some mild soap and warm water to make sure theres no dust or nasty bits on there.

I love the lock I have already on my cage. U have to slide it then stand it upright and it goes down. It was already on the cage.Its an HQ cage

I have one on chico's sleeping cage.Beacause he knows how to open the door.So when he is not tierd i leave him for a min then i go in and he is trying to unlock the padlock.But thank god he carn't get out.His day time cage is allready got a little secret padlock on it is that he carn't get out.:laugh:
