ajlinva
A friend of mine just purchased a baby African Grey and he/she has a rounded split band. It does have some numbers on it, but just so different from any that I have seen. Does anyone know if this is something new?

Luvparrots
I believe closed bands are typically used for hatchlings. Open bands are used for older or full-grown birds. They are not required in the USA. I have three parrots and only my zon has a closed band. I have had my two greys micro-chipped so that any veterinarian can read for the chip and find me. ajlinva
Well, according to the store, this Grey was born on 3/12/11. It looks like a baby and acts like one too, with the little chirps and begging noises that it makes. Plus the eyes are dark like most of the babies I have seen. I am certainly no expert in the field, but just wondering if anyone had any info on these types of bands.
