RedDragon1288
I will be adopting a Hawk head later in the year and information on them is very limited. Does anyone have personal experience with them?
judygram
No I don't but they are beautiful birds and you will be a very lucky person to be able to own one, please do update us on when this happens and provide some pictures.
Luvparrots
Congratulations RedDragon. Looking forward to learning about Hawkheaded parrots with you. Please keep us informed of your new parrot.
GandalfGreybird
I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this thread. Hawkheaded's are beautiful and intriguing. I'm only allotted two parrots at a time by the Mrs., but i'll eventually be looking at a second bird after my tiel is gone. Hawkheads are top on the prospective list. Birdnut
I have very limited experience with a hawkhead. I did meet one and was able to handle it briefly when one came into the local bird shop. It was a beautiful bird and seemed inclined to be gentle natured. I was sorely tempted by that bird.
MarcusCAG
I'm sorry, I don't have any personal experience with a Hawkhead parrot, but I will say I did see one up on our local Craig's List once--I think this was before we adopted our Marcus, actually. I replied to the ad and inquired after the Hawkhead; my husband has expressed an acute interest in them for a long time now, but I never heard back from the owner/seller, so it obviously didn't end up with us. Ah, well. I hope he/she got a good forever home in the end... There are a few articles online about them though, and maybe you can contact some of those people on YouTube who put up videos of their Hawkheads and get some more info that way? Just an idea. RedDragon1288
I never though about that Marcus. I will give that a try, and I'm just waiting to heard from the breeder here in California. I have the option of already acquiring one from other states but I want to be able to see the breeder's facility and where my baby is coming from. katana600
I have a friend in Houston who has several birds and if I recall she has a hawkhead. I will email to see if she still has him and if she has anything to add to the conversation. I am pretty sure when she showed me pictures of her birds, he was a favorite. Greywings
One of my friends worked with some Hawkheads and enjoys their personalities but they do get aggressive from time to time and will bite hard. Complex personalities to go with those beautiful colors.
RedDragon1288
Oh man! November is almost here, just one month and some odds days to go.
RedDragon1288
Okay, Malachite is a boy. I'm a little disappointed because I really want my baby girl. I guess the parrot gods are giving me a sign that my next parrot will have to be a female Vos. Eclectus, and that I have to wait for her. But I'm still happy that no one is going to get Malachite's gender wrong like Ruby's. Ruby is my first baby boy. LOL I'm so anthropomorphizing them. thenabrd
But I'm still happy that no one is going to get Malachite's gender wrong like Ruby's. Ruby is my first baby boy. LOL I'm so anthropomorphizing them. lol, i'm glad to hear i'm not the only one that's done this!!! i was convinced athena was a girl, she just seemed so "female". well 2 years in and all the "big girl, good girl, prettiest girl, etc" she says, she plucked her chest feathers. so the vet said it'd be a good idea to determine the sex, in case this was a breeding thing. well athena is a boy!! he's still a "she" in our minds and hers and according to her, she's still the "prettiest girl in the wholest world"!!! Dave007
Make sure your problem concerning your grey is completely solved before taking on another parrot.
RedDragon1288
Brennen and I are so working on it Dave. Thanks for the help. What I'm mostly worried with Ruby is that he has never show friendly interest towards other parrots, only aggression. Yup, now I can see the problem more vividly.
