Zoom
She's gorgeous! Is she enclosed somehow? How do you keep her from flying away?
Bear
Hi She is clipped but she has been coming outside since she was very young. She loves it. She has never once even tried to fly away. There were two instances when we were having work done on our houses that she got outside...and she stood outside saying 'hello hello!' asking to come back in. She does think she is a dog though and comes to call. When I managed a game lodge her and my grey would come down to work with me and meet the guests etc, so they are very well socialised. Bean even chills with my dogs
judygram
She is gorgeous outside but I have to caution that even with clipped wings she can still fly away if given a good breeze, you may not think she would want to leave you but if startled by an unexpected noise she can and will take flight, its what birds do when frightened so please don't take her outside without either being on a harness or inside some kind of enclosure as I would hate to see you lose her to a stiff breeze. Birdnut
Bean is beautiful. I love that cockatoo close-up (photo #2). Our Gwyneth, an umbrella/goffin hybrid, has that same sweet face.

Bear
Thanks everyone Our garden has lots of trees inside and bordering it, so we don't get any breezes in there (a nightmare for mosquitos in that sense!) The trees are massive and very dense, plus we have a very high fence. Also we have 500 acres of land and there is nothing around us but fields for as far as the eye can see, and she can only fly a couple of metres even from a height, so we aren't worried. If a breeze could blow her more than 4 miles then there might be a danger, but considering we live in a valley and never get wind, again, terrible for mosquitos, I don't think it will happen Edited May 22, 2011 by Bear
