taylorsmom
So I am new to this site and greys, although I have been reading lots of posts the past few days. We will be bringing home our new baby CAG Taylor in about 2 months. This is my first bird in my adult life; I grew up with birds in the house though so I am not completely new to birds. My husband and I have been looking at birds for about a year and I completely fell in love with a baby CAG after being adamant about never having one. My grandmother had a very unfriendly TAG that would attack and bite everyone except her, so I never thought I would like them. This site is awesome and I am sure I have a million questions and this seems like a good place to find some answers.
judygram
Hello Taylorsmom and welcome to our family, so glad to hear you are bringing a grey into your life. You can't judge all greys by the personality of one individual grey because they are all different but as a whole the Tags usually are less prone than Cags to be one person birds. My Cag is bonded to me and usually she will only let me handle her but she has a good relationship with my hubby, she will give him kisses and sometimes goes over on his shoulder for a few minutes. Please continue to read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask those questions you have and we will help you in any way we can. Butttaxi
Hi-ya You have come to an great place, everyone here are awesome and very helpful! I didn't have a load of experience either when we got Rorschach. I knew people who owned a CAG who didn't always play nice with others but they had him in the cage most of the time. They only took him out when no one else was there but I would always go sit with him beside his cage to talk and offer treats. He would even let me scratch his head through the cage. Of course I didn't realize at the time how much of a big deal it was lol Rorschach is a completely different experience, he seems to only LOVE short females but the bf, with patience, was able to bond with him. It took a while but the time paid off.
taylorsmom
Thanks for all the welcomes. I realize now that I made a mistake judging all greys by the few that I have met. I was very young however and he pretty much tortured us so I was a little traumatized. Looking back and knowing what I know now, there were a lot of things that were done completely wrong in caring for him. Plus he came with tons of baggage, his previous owner died and he was pretty ticked off about it. My husband and I look at many birds, babies and adults from greencheeks, to goffins, to greenwings and this baby was just "the one".
Guest jules420_91
Hi Taylorsmom welcome to the forum. My husband & I just brought home our first hand raised baby CAG Louie on Saturday. Like you Louie chose us. He is just adorable & we find him very entertaining. He is always coming up with new tricks to get our attention (which he has anyway but...). His new fav is to hang upside down by one foot from the top of his cage (inside the cage) & give little screams & of course flap his wings like crazy LOL. He loves kisses & neck scratches & when he is sleepy he wants me to stroke the top of his little head. Words just cannot describe the joy our little guy has brought to our lives. I also have a 6yr old White-Fronted Amazon who loves me, tolerates my 19 yr old son & Hates my hubby. So far Louie loves all of our attention although he only makes a fuss when his momma leaves the room without him. Read everything you can there is tons of great info & advice on this site. It is also a great place to meet new bird crazy friends. All the best to you & your new baby, Julie, Greg, Pat, Tarzie & Louie

He is just adorable & we find him very entertaining. That is so exciting, we have at least another month before he is weaned maybe longer. Taylor is just the cutest little thing, we visit him a lot! He is still just a baby so other then cute little noises he doesn't do much, I am sure that will change quickly.

I will, I hopefully will get to visit tomorrow! I will take a couple pictures and post them. I did not realize until last night that people on this site are a little "picture crazy". Which is awesome because I love seeing all of them!
