Ray P
18 hours of no power and 20 degs. from an ice storm. Had to move all the fids to one room with the wood burner and cover all the doors with blankets to keep the heat in but we made it.

judygram
Been there and done that Ray but our wood stove will heat the whole house so the fids do not suffer plus we can cook on top of it so we can have hot meals, glad to hear you all made it thru a tough time and everyone is fine. BirdsAreGrey8
Wow that's crazy! Gotta love Florida.. The most snow I've ever seen was on a business trip to Nashville last month; 6-7", no big deal.

Mama CJ
We had a lot of ice on Monday too, no school on Tuesday for the kids. Sounds like we might be getting some more nasty weather tonight. I'm in Ohio too, between Marysville, Urbana and Bellefontaine area. Glad you got thru it. Wood burners are a life saver here in Ohio.....
katana600
Wow, you have been resourceful, but it had to be a huge worry on top of being pretty darn cold.

Jingles
ick! We did 11 days with no power during a huge ice storm... i swear, we were the last street to be turned on... and when they did turn us on, we had only part power for 2 days. So, I hear ya! Thankfully, we didn't have the bird at the time and we only had the 2 dogs/cat... of course, i'm late on this and am hoping your power is back on

Guest
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh, I remember those northeastern Ohio winters many years ago! February was always the most bitter cold! I am late on this - haven't been on the site very much lately because was sick and had to work and just didn't have any leftover energy. Glad you all are okay! kittykittykitty
I'm even later. I worried a lot about what would happen to Precious if we lost power because I had no fireplace or wood stove. I bought a hot water bottle hoping I could put her in her traveling cage with that if I needed to. I had a gas stove and a gas water heater so I hoped I could have hot water. Winter is not wanting to say good-by here in "sunny" Southern California. Our local mountains are supposed to get one to three feet of snow tonight. I am very glad all of you and all the fids and other "babies" got through the bitter cold. Every time I saw a weather report I wondered how all of you were.
