Christina Posted August 30, 2007 Share Posted August 30, 2007 Finnigan loves to play with/in boxes, so I put one in his cage with him...he seems to love it, do you think its okay to leave in there? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Talon Posted August 30, 2007 Share Posted August 30, 2007 I think it would be fine. They love to chew on boxes, and climb into. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
lovemyGreys Posted August 30, 2007 Share Posted August 30, 2007 Boxes are fine for greys to chew & play with, just make sure it has no glue/adhesive substances on it they he may ingest. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
judygram Posted August 30, 2007 Share Posted August 30, 2007 Boxes are fine, especially if your grey is a boy, for we have another member that has a problem with her girl wanting to possibly make a nest in it. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Christina Posted August 30, 2007 Author Share Posted August 30, 2007 Awesome thanks. I don't really know if he is a he or a she...but either way, s/he is only 15 weeks old...so I have a little time before I need to worry about the nesting! judygram Posted August 30, 2007 Share Posted August 30, 2007 It might not be a bad idea to have he/she DNA sexed so you will know if you need to worry, that is the problem with females, they might want to nest or lay eggs. But until then, let him have the boxes to enjoy. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
danmcq Posted August 30, 2007 Share Posted August 30, 2007 I just threw a box into Dayo's Cage, since I thought it might be fun for him. It's a hit! He's chewing it, chomping it, scratching it and of course in it. :-) Big Fun :woohoo: {Characters-0002005C}

Post edited by: danmcq, at: 2007/08/30 20:06 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Toni Posted August 31, 2007 Share Posted August 31, 2007 Well if it lays eggs that will tell you the gender. lol Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
danmcq Posted August 31, 2007 Share Posted August 31, 2007 LOL - Dayo better not, he was DNA tested as a male. :ohmy: :laugh: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Christina Posted August 31, 2007 Author Share Posted August 31, 2007 I think I will DNA when I take him to be groomed and they clip his toe nails...get the blood on the card and send it off to one of those internet places. I think that is like $35...compared to the $75 and drawing blood at the vet. I have a little time before that happens, as I just file his nails now. I figure he is just starting to climb and carry on so he needs extra claw power to keep from falling. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
danmcq Posted August 31, 2007 Share Posted August 31, 2007 Yes, when clipping the Nails is the normal time to get the DNA sample to send off. What's nice about the online services, is once you send it off, you can watch online for the results. Instead of having to wait for snail mail to deliver it. :-) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
judygram Posted August 31, 2007 Share Posted August 31, 2007 Shame on you Dan, for bashing the United States Postal Service, but hey the truth hurts, it is true that the higher stamps go, the worse the service, and thats a shame. How big a boxes are you all talking about, what would be the approximate dimensions of some you offer for them to tear up? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
loviechick Posted September 1, 2007 Share Posted September 1, 2007 Actually I have a friend that has a DNA'd Male African Grey and he has turned his box into a nest also in a situation similar to this so I don't think its just females! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

judygram Posted September 1, 2007 Share Posted September 1, 2007 Thanks, Tracy, for your answer, Dan just ignored my question but I will get him for that. I just wanted to know what size boxes to look for. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
danmcq Posted September 1, 2007 Share Posted September 1, 2007 Ok, Miss smarty pants Judy. Shoe boxes are relative to the size shoe you wear, so is your Grey a size 5 Womens or a size 13 Mens? :whistle: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
judygram Posted September 1, 2007 Share Posted September 1, 2007 Don't get a kink in your shorts, Dan, I was just trying to get you riled up and I succeeded, score one for me. Talon Posted September 1, 2007 Share Posted September 1, 2007 Lovemygreys wrote: Gosh Dan have you nothing better to do than measure boxes Some people really need to get a life.....measuring boxes Dan.......really now. take Kim out for dinner & a movie instead! And I will keep this on topic, I live in fear of those Off-topic Police that Tracy has hidden, they seem to follow me everywhere. Talon does not like boxes, only little pieces of cardboard. She's scared of the boxes. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
judygram Posted September 1, 2007 Share Posted September 1, 2007 Well I am gonna get me some boxes, and they aren't going to be precise in size but they will do. But precise is just what engineers do, they can't think any other way, they are so smart they are dumb. Dan must have taken Kim out for dinner, he is not on at the moment, oh well, I will get him later, after Kim is thru with him, I'll get leftovers.:whistle: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
