Guest
Hi, Everyone! I've noticed that many/most of you do not list where in the world you are. I find this curious, since really, is there any harm in doing so? I can glean that people are from alllllllll over the place, since many of you use alternate spellings (or is it we Americans who use the alternate spellings?) and regional references, but when I go to see where exactly in the world you are located, many times that portion of your profile is empty. At least to me, it would seem more helpful to list where you are from for another reason. If you are having a problem, say, a lost bird, wouldn't it be nice if someone reading your post could say, "Gee, I live in ABC-City, Such-n-Such-Country, too, and I can help this person." Plus, hey, it's an opportunity to make friends, since someone might notice another user is in their town, or nearby, and therefore a friendship can be struck up, and pet-sitting services traded, and the like. Just my thoughts. What do you all think? Am I being naive listing the city in which I live? Am I missing something? Hope everyone and their fiddies are well! >^..^<
Ray P
I know what you meam. I enjoy talking to people from other countries and finding how much we alike when it comes to our birds. But I gess in todays world people don`t want others to no because of every thing that is going on. Our birds are what keeps us together so we are happy with that. Luvparrots
Well, I am in the good old USA in the Evergreen State. Where the grass is green and everyone has webbed feet!!!! I can be in the mountains in three hours and at the Pacific Ocean in another three. Where the mountains erupt and the ocean roars!!!!! kittykittykitty
I may have written before that the Inland Empire is about 60 miles east of LA, about 60 mile west of Palm Springs with Interstate 10 going east-west and I 15 the main north-south freeway. The San Bernardino mountains are just to the north. Depending on traffic the Pacific Ocean is one-two hours away. For those who crave man made entertainment there are Disneyland, Sea World, Universal City, Knotts Berry Farm, Magic Mountain all within an hour or two. There are casinos on almost every reservation as well as in Las Vegas, Nevada. Many forget this is desert and there would be nothing here without water from the Colorado River as well as rivers from Northern California. Because it is desert it is hot in the summer and chilly in the winter. Mammoth Mountain is a popular winter sport destination. Some stay closer to home and play at Wrightwood and Big Bear. It is still Southern California and as such is over populated with traffic nightmares, year around fire season and frequent earthquakes and is over due for The Big One. But I still live here! Guest
kittykittykitty! Very good description of the IE! And for those of you who don't live in Cali, did you know we have hundreds of earthquakes/day in Cali? Interesting fact! But they are so small that no one feels them or pays attention to them. Ok, so I still don't see many people listing in their profiles where in the world they live. Wish people would add that information, as it helps people connect, in my opinion. Plus, it's just interesting, plain and simple! :-)

Birdnut
Born and bred in Central Texas. I was born in Austin and grew up there. I currently live in Georgetown, which is about 20 miles north of Austin. I also like to see where people are from. I find it fascinating that there are people here from so many places in the world. I guess I'm interested in the people too, as well as the parrots. I think it's cool how there are so many people of different ages, backgrounds, and from so many different places, all brought together by their enthusiasm for their birds. Barbara2
I was born in Alaska and then lived in Virginia, South Carolina, England (very far south of Jillybeanz. I was near Cambridge.), New Jersey, Illinois, Virginia again and finally Ohio. When people used to ask me where I was from I would answer, "I'm not from anywhere". I also, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the international flair of this board! I love meeting up with people from all over the globe!
Kaleah
The land of cheese and beer.... Wisconsin. Out in the sticks surrounded by hills and cornfields and the Mississippi. Where cows out number people 100 to 1 (that could be an exaggeration).
reggieroo
Well I always put where abouts I'm from except the exact Village I live. I'm from the UK in the countryside of Worcestershire, in among 100 Villages dotted about. I'm on a lot of other forums, mainly car forums & I don't advertise my exact location just in case somebody decides, nice car I'll have that! It is unfortunately the world we live in & people fear the criminals that lurk all over the Internet inc all manner of forums looking for an easy target of whatever you might have worth some money. Shoulderin
My profile says Southern CA but I will be more specific and admit I'm in Orange County about 20 minutes from Disneyland. I hear the fireworks every night which is surprisingly comforting! I also love to see where people come from. I truly believe that animals are one of the glues that hold people together...that being said I will admit I have a whole lot of glue in my life (you may see me on an episode of Animal Hoarders some day....jk!) I am so appreciative of this forum as I have learned so much about my baby CAG from all the experts and she is doing fabulously as a result! Shoulderin
My 20 year old daughter and her friend are at Disneyland right now! Many people around here have yearly passes and go often. I don't like the crowds so don't go too often! I would love to go to Disneyworld just to see the different rides and attractions

I turn into a 10 year old!
