Tomcat Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Hi All, When i first got Ollie, he didnt overly like the sprayer, so im presuming his previous owner (I got him at around 11 months old) didnt spray him very often if at all? Now, he doesnt seem to mind it at all, he opens his wings, and 'dances' in the spray. Even if he is sat on top of his cage, where he could fly away, he dances in the mist. Really seems to enjoy it How does your Grey react to the sprayer? Tom
Luvparrots Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Ana Grey loves it. There is an old thread here somewhere in which she is twirling and spreading her wings while I spray her.
Tomcat Posted August 27, 2010 Author Posted August 27, 2010 Im really glad Ollie enjoys it, as i think its so important to use the sprayer. Ollie gets it everyday now, and is in love with it, he puts his face right up to it haha
judygram Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 You are one of the lucky ones to have a grey that enjoys the baths and sprays, mine will tolerate it but doesn't much care for it but I don't let that stop me from giving her a good soaking.
KimKim Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 Mine hates it! He screams and growls! And that makes me feel bad, so I stop. I don't want him to hate me. One time I could not touch him for a week! He gets mist from the shower though...
Tomcat Posted August 29, 2010 Author Posted August 29, 2010 Nawww, maybe he will learn to like it in time? Ollie didnt use to like it, however he has started to appreciate it and enjoy it now
KimKim Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 I dont think he will ever like the mister... or water. I will keep trying though
tbird Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 I spray my Sunny and he gets mad and starts to bite the spray bottle do I continue to spray him?
Dave007 Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 It's always a good idea when your bird starts nipping at the nozzle to stop the spraying and let him bite at it for 20 to 30 seconds and then continue. It lets your bird see that the enemy isn't that bad.
Jingles Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 thanks for the advice dave!!! my bird HATES it and runs and fly's and does everything to get me to try to stop...
Elvenking Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 I just tried the spray bottle with Issac this last weekend. I didn't even aim it at him...I sprayed up and let the mist fall. He does not like this at all. Moving out of the way, and looking at me like I am some kind of saddistic mad man. So I backed off. I will try again soon, but I don;t want to traumatize him.
