SueLaBar
My Quaker Parrots love water, but, my Nala hates bathing! I have sprayed her a couple of times, actually misted, and man she was mad at me for a week! I have an old glass pie plate that I put a toy in to float and 1/2 of water to see what would happen. She is just glaring at it!
judygram
My Josey does not care for bathing either except on her terms, she will try to bathe in her water bowl to no avail but I do take her into the shower and get her wet, she doesn't much care for it but tolerates it. Some greys do not like water or bathing and Nala has made it clear she doesn't like it at all but do not give up, take her into the shower with you, don't put her under the stream but let her sit on the shower rod, you go ahead and take your shower and show her you are having fun doing it and see if sometime in the future she may want to venture in with you. Josey doesn't hold it against me when I take her to bathe her but obviously some do like your Nala but she does need to be soaked occasionally so keep at it. Leave the pie plate of water in her cage, changing it daily and see if she will eventually get in. Does she ever try to bathe in her water dish? Luvparrots
I joined this forum before I got my grey so read all the things to do and what greys didn't like. When I read that some greys didn't like bathing or showers I was determined that Ana Grey would at least tolerate them. When she first came home I starting bathing and spraying. She loves it now. I suggest that you don't give up and continue to mist and take her into the shower. Judy has some great suggestions that I would try if I where in your situation. Good luck! SueLaBar
No she just drinks out of it. My quakers will jump head first into their bird bath and Nala just watches them from across the room. All the birds here soak the whole house with bathing time. I have towels all over the floors for a quick clean up. Splash my crested Canary is the worst. Hense his name. But Nala - she's a dirty bird . She gets really mad if you do things against her wishes. For now I will try leaving the dish on the bottom. I even tried putting a toy in for her but she took it out and flung it like"you can't be serious". Someone suggested freezing a blueberry or something inside an icecube to peak her curiousity. SueLaBar
She won't step up yet unless she jumps away from her cage so bringing her into the bathroom is almost imposible yet. I won't give up. She gets pouty and mad sometimes but she gets over it.

JillyBeanz
Harvey only tolerates showering - and only once in the year he has been with me has he "puffed up" to let that water run right to his skin. He will sit there, with absolute disgust on his face and let the shower fall over him. He will let me lift his wings to get to his "armpits" and would sit there as long as I asked him to - but I wouldn't say he enjoys it! To get the aloe to his skin I obviously add it to a spray. I stupidly thought he might just sit on his shower perch and accept the misting - BIG MISTAKE!! I have to shower him first to soak him to the skin and then put him in his cage to be misted. He hates it with a passion and jumps all over the cage to get rid of me, before he finally settles on his perch. I just carry on regardless.........! Good luck with your showers - you can see how happy they are once they have been showered (they just won't admit i)!!!
kent_ridge
two questions: 1) is it okay to bathe a grey more than twice a week? is there any max amount of time we should take note of? 2) while it is not advisable to use soap on a grey, is it okay to use soap on their feet? let's say soap free ones that we have in pharmacy? 3) do greys need sun to dry themselves up? do they do fine with hair dryer or just room temperature? i live in an apartment and we don't get any direct light at all. is it okay to bathe them then dry them up with a towel and leave them to dry? 4) i may be bringing a four-year old grey home and it probably doesn't have any experience with bathing. should i be bringing him into the shower straight on the second day? or does introduction to bathing early works only for babies? thank you all!
