We have a female Cockatiel that is 2 1/2 yrs. old. She has been laying eggs since about the end of August and to date there have probably been close to 30 (I have lost count). First, I took them out and then read that they should be left with her for 10 days or so. I have tried partially covering her cage, now I don't know what else to do. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Joy I don't have any cockatiels but one member who does is ramsabi, he has babies right now and could probably give you some advice as to what to do, you can pm him if you like.

:) Hi Joy, If your hen is laying a lot of eggs, please make sure she gets xtra calcium.. The best way to treat a egg layer is to keep the daylight hr's under 12 a day, don't mist as often, very little "soft food" and nothing that looks like a nest...Let her sit the eggs for 30 days, when she loses interest, remove them...A good 'Tiel site is http://www.cockatielcottage.net/ :P

Thanks Jay for giving Joy some information on cockatiels and their egg laying, I only mentioned Ramsabi because he has chicks at the moment but you are a very good source of info on many types of birds.;):P
