jessdecutie18
A picture of an All Red African Grey... it looks so weird and unnatural... http://www.hancockhouse.com/products/product_images//BirSouDVD4-3.jpg
judygram
I have seen that particular picture before and I agree it does not seem natural, it is striking but not natural.
Joolesgreyuk
Oh isn't he gorgeous?! He doesn't look like an AG though does he.

pearllyn
Is he one of those colou mutations or is this a natural occurance, like a one off sort of thing? I'd like to see him full grown.
cf737
I read an article about this actually. Apparently it took them years to get the red factor greys to produce an all red one. SO bizarre. Talk about playing with nature.
Janfromboone
I like our beautiful grey-greys! There is something elegant about the red tail on an all grey bird.
rbpittman
It may look unnatural, but my love of red makes me very interested, although I know my pocket book is not nearly deep enough for such a creature. I'll be happy with my "red" on the tail of the two precious "grey's." Dixie does occasionally look slightly pink - but that's after eating beets. jessdecutie18
http://www.redafricangrey.com/ If You are interested this site explains and has a couple videos It says on the last page that they have them for sale and gives contact information... I wonder how much they sell those red babies for? Probably a lot, lol.
rbpittman
Jess thanks for the info - after looking at the site my intrigue went to disgust. Why take a beautiful creature and mutate into something so different? I'm assuming in the name of science. The adult birds are not nearly as beautiful as the babies, and do not even resemble greys to me. I'll be perfectly happy with my greys as they are, as God intended them to be, and their red colorings only on their tails.

ecodweeb
That's so crazy! Talula has random little red feathers sometimes, I wonder if she has the mutation?

I totally agree, I love my baby and her feathers and wouldn't want her any way but how she was intended to be The site is interesting though, although yeah the all red ones look too unnatural... Their faces are boring, where as a normal grey's face is so defined, from dark feathering to white and a dark beak.
