Kaedyn
Hi all. The job and other things have been keeping me away for a while, but I thought I'd stop by and bring you up to date on a new addition to the flock. This one has been rescued from an overprivileged and under caring 13 year old boy who thought it was fun to scare and cut/pull out a bird's feathers. To make it worse, this is one of the sweetest birds ever. Despite her history, she loves everyone, doesn't bite, doesn't scream, loves showers, and is trusting enough to lay on her back in a stranger's hand. I was introduced to her as Tiki. This might change, as she's never been DNA sexed. She's about 18 months old. Her first vet visit was yesterday and we're hoping her tests come back with no problems. See the pictures below.... http://emberdaze.net/birds/conure/image1.jpg http://emberdaze.net/birds/conure/image2.jpg

Post edited by: Kaedyn, at: 2009/10/25 04:

Luvparrots
Karma to you Jim for taking in such a sweet fid. I pray the vet exam is A-OK. Can't wait to hear more about Tiki and see some more pictures!
Joolesgreyuk
OMG what a gorgeous bird! How could anyone possibly be cruel to this lovely fid??
judygram
She is a beautiful little sun conure and they are very sweet birds, congrats on your new addition and I hope the test results come back that you have a healthy one. I'd like to get my hands on that 13 year old boy and yank his hairs out and see how he feels about it:angry: he should never be allowed to have another pet if that is the way he treats them. Kaedyn
Thanks for all the nice comments. I'll try to post some more pictures soon. It's probably best that I never met this kid personally. I was told that he also pulled the tail off of a finch that was rescued by someone else. I never saw that bird, but supposedly it also survived its ordeal. Tiki seems very aware that she's now in a better place. She tries to share her food with me daily, as if thanking me for bringing her home.
Luvparrots
I hope that young man's parents have gotten him some help for this obvious illness!

Post edited by: luvparrots, at: 2009/10/25 22:

cf737
What a little sweetheart, Tiki is just adorable and I'm so glad she has you to look after her. And I agree with what everyone has said - I'd like to get my hands on that kid. My goodness, how cruel must you be to taunt a poor creature like that. I look forward to hearing more about Tiki, I just love sun conures.
Tycos_mom
That young man needs a lesson in kindness maybe a bit of the same treat ment he give to ealpless creatures should be done to him Id like to hang him upside down by his ankles and pull all the hair out of his skinny little legs and see how he likes it nothing makes me so mad as someone hurting an animal what is the matter with is parents they need to get this boy some help before he grows up and becomes a serial killer or somthing. Debandbella
What a sweet little thing! Well done on rescuing her. :woohoo: Not even commenting about the brat.
Char
What a cutie! I am not even going to comment on the disturbed boy.
JillyBeanz
She is beautiful - what absolutely stunning colours. I agree with Pat - It has been proven that as kids, serial killers or violent criminals often started out by maiming or killing animals. I hope his parents are prproud of their little "darling". I know what I'd chop off belonging to him and it's not his hair!

I can imagine so lets just leave it at that! I love those little sun conures too, of course I have one and she is so sweet and I bet Tiki knows she has landed in a good home, finally with someone who knows how to treat a precious creature.:cheer:
rbpittman
Ditto what Judy and Jill said. I have a 13 year old and thought long and hard before getting him his "own" bird - Sterling a U2 and now Blue a little sun conure. I'm afraid to tell LP what your little baby has been through, I'm sure he wouldn't be reflecting the values of his upbringing, but I'm sure he would reflect the feelings of all of us!
