Here is part one of the world parrot trust video. I thought some of the newer Grey owners would enjoy this background on Greys in the wild.

 

 

Here is part two. It contains addition information as well. But, if you do not want to know or see how Greys are caught in the wild, do not watch it.

It is so hard knowing so many wild parrots are suffering such treatment,I did not watch as I have seen it before and could not do that again.I must say though that having been to Africa an seeing first hand the absolute poverty and deprivation the African people live in It is no surprise that they try and survive on the meagre amount of money the trappers are given.It is further along the line that the money is made.

It is still going on because there are many countries that have not outlawed the import of wild african greys. They also trap them for peoples that believe parts of the grey have magical powers or healing related powers. I won't go into that at all, but thats why it stioll goes on.

 

As Sheila stated, it is an income to those in desperate need and struggling to survive.
