raleej337
How safe it is to have a grey when you have a 4 y.o. or should I ask the other way around. Anybody who have experience with children and grey? Thanks!
Luvparrots
All I will say is that I don't let my grandchildren, except the ones over 13 years of age alone with my grey. Ana Grey is a sweet and quiet grey but her beak could do a lot of damage if she chose to use it. I have let my 9 year old grandson hold her on his arm (no fingers) but not on the shoulder (too close to the eyes and ears) and never without me right next to him. Why, because any little spook could scare Ana Grey and she might grab on with her beak and claws and children's flesh is very soft. I wouldn't want they to fear being close to birds because of an accident. And my children would never forgive me (nor could I forgive myself) if their children were scarred for life because of my fids. This, of course, is only my personal opinion. lovethatgrey
I would always supervise any physical contact between young children and any african grey.
