If you were going to hand feed an older baby grey, (just stared weaning) would you syringe or spoon feed?

Whats the difference?

With my quaker, we syringe fed her from a little pink baby. We didn't have any problems. The grey i'm getting, we were told spoon feeding is the way to go, and a bird should only be syringe fed if its sick.

Opinions, or facts at that matter. I haven't really looked into the whole spoon feeding deal. I just want to hear your thoughts on the matter, if it really makes a difference?

Spoon is easier and it allows them to eat more at their own pace. It is more messy though. Bending the spoon inwards to make more of a funnel helps a lot with lessening the mess..

LOL Sheila!!

Ok any pair of pliers will work just fine if you can fit them across the spoon and still have enough leverage to close them and bend the spoon.

Ok, heres a picture of what us "Guys" call water pump pliers..

I prefer syringe feeding. I've always used a syringe. They both essentially feed your baby but the syringe is a lot faster and less messy. But to each his own. I've raised countless babies and all were syringe fed.

I syringe fed my Grey and my GCC and My cockatiel I tried spoon feeding Adaya a few times but I wasted more formula than she ate so I gave up and used a syringe.
