  1. Does your grey use a sleep tent? I saw one that is a rectangular shape with sides and a top but no bottom. There is also an opening on one of the sides. It hangs over the perch that the bird sleeps on. It looked neat but I can't seem to find one.
  2. I decided to hold out for a TAG. I think we may have found one!
  3. I was supposed to be buying a TAG from a great local breeder. She was supposed to be pulling the babies from a pair that an elderly breeder friend of hers has. She was then going to hand feed them and socialize them. They have done this before. Well, the elderly lady decided to pull them and start hand feeding the babies herself. She has now told our breeder that she's not ready to give them up yet. We were buying from this specific breeder because all of her babies are so well socialized with children as well as adults. The breeder is giving us the option of: getting our deposit back; waiting to see if the other lady eventually gives the TAGs to her; or she can get CAG babies that are 2 weeks old right now and hand feed and socialize them and we can purchase one of them for the same price she was going to charge us for the TAG. What would you do? Would you wait for another TAG to become available? Our breeder has a pair of TAGs that just laid eggs a month ago, but they were infertile. My reason for buying a TAG was that we have children and I've read that they are less prone to nervousness and are more social than CAGs. Have you found this to be true? I'm afraid that if we wait and get the TAG after the original lady gets done with them, it won't be socialized.

    Carrier?

Would the cage that Kizzybird, and many of you, have be good as a sleep cage also? Or is it too small for a sleep cage? I know it would have to be sat on something because birds want to be higher.
  5. I am getting a TAG. I can't wait to get pictures from the breeder after they pull them from the nest.
  6. Have you checked Amazon.com? That's where our breeder orders the Tropican.
  7. Hello! I do not have my grey yet. I do have a deposit down on one though. The oldest in the clutch are 3 weeks old. So, I have a bit of a wait ahead of me. I have always wanted a grey some day. I kept thinking that I would wait until the kids were grown. However, I have now decided not to wait because I want my grey to be able to live as long as possible in our home. Our youngest is 4 and grey's have a long life span. We do have other birds, a lineolated parakeet, dove and green cheek. I've already learned so much from this forum and I'm sure that I will continue to do so.

    Carrier?

What kind of carrier do you use when you take your grey to the vet or travel with him/ her? I've seen some really nice, but expensive, ones online.
  9. I know what you mean. The guy that we contacted did seem knowledgeable in doing bird cages though. He said that it would metal free and bird safe. We have a while before we have to decide what to do.
  10. Is it worth it to get a cage re-powdercoated? We have a cage that has some rust on it. It will cost only 1/2, if not less, of what a new cage would be to have it powdercoated. We were given the cage.
  11. Very nice pictures. Thanks for sharing!
