they are amazing animals, i have learnt alot from being a first time slave to a parrot haha charlie learns me new thing all the time

what can i say ... he just will not shut up haha he is hilarious.. i was up stairs today and the kids shouted me and said, "dad, did you hear charlie" .. "he has just asked if you had insurance" have you got insurance, have you got insurance... haha it cracked me up.. im presuming he picked this up off the radio

some great advice posted above... with charlie a stern "NO BITING" and the evil stare straight at charlie does the trick .. although its usually during play when he is over excited he usually nips a bit hard, but he quickly gets the message ... charlie did surprise me the other day, he was getting a tickle sat watching tv, he must of been that comfortable and drifting off that when i stopped he literally dived across the couch and grabbed my finger HARD haha as i was not expecting it or looking a did give a little scream out haha yes it did hurt ...

haha yeah there just like kids and know exactly how to get your full attention as for the baby crying sounds fingers crossed he has'nt picked it up, otherwise my nephew stays away untill he stops crying lol (only joking )

little update charlie has added a few more words to his list haha "hello charlie boy, what ya doing" "whats up boy" "tickle" "hello baby" (then blows a kiss lol) "hello chicken" and he can also cry like my friends dog does haha which is annoying when my sister was over with my 2 month old nephew charlie heard him cry and was really listening, i hope he dont pick that up lol crying baby sounds for the next 4 or 5 decades

yes charlie seems to be losing a good few also, we recently came back off a 14 day holiday and he looked in great condition when we got back (with a new vocabulary also), as he has been molting alot of feathers my little girl also collects everyone and keeps them in a big clear tub, she is going to make a african grey picture from just out of the feathers when she has enough she said

rattle snakes HAHAHAHA thnx that made me laugh even though it took me a good 10 seconds before i realised we dont have snakes here in the ENGLAND (well not deadly ones) lol thnx that put a smile on my face

i am going to have to quote myself here charlie has been mumbling sentances as i mentioned, i have just heard him from the kitchen not half an hour ago, say "hello son, what's up" as clear as day haha he is at it now as i type trying to draw my attention lol OK CHARLIE, THE TREATS ARE ON THE WAY

that heat would keel me over and dehydrate me in 2 hours i could not take that heat haha are you talking 40c+ celcius ??

this is without a doubt my lesson learned, i nearly fell apart, as i knew he was not well in this heat when i pulled him back inside but as we speak he is fine & dandy he is chatting new words as i type, i can not wait for the mrs to hear his new vocabulary

thanks and yes this weather is very unusual for the UK, i swear if it were not for my friend noticing charlie this thread may well of been very different & i hate to say it as we usually chat over the back fence of my neighbour for a good bit whilst we whistle back & forth to charlie, he is eager to join us everytime lol

i love it and for $8 which is around £5 to me i would of snapped it up haha

really sorry to hear this there was a grey missing just half a mile from me last week what was put in the local paper, me the mrs and the kids are always looking out for him when we are out, my youngest daughter comes in the other day saying she had seen a bird with a red tail what looked like charlie, we went to look but there was nothing there... chin up & never loose hope, EVER

a few days back we had a very hot day 32c here which is very hot for the UK.. well me and a friend pulled charlie out the back as he has been outside nearly every day in this glorious weather :cool: well within 10 mins my friend shouted me from the bottom of my garden to come quick he noticed charlie panting heavily which made me nearly start panicking as i knew it was not a good sign, we quickly got him back inside where it was cooler, gave him a cool shower and set a fan up to blow air around the room all the while im feeling sick with worry, well within 5/10 mins he was fine and back climbing around and whistling away wondering why he was getting extra fuss this day haha panic over and lesson learned allthough charlie had been out loads of times in this heat & his cage was shaded half/half and had cool showers often and cold treats, this day was a hot day and i got caught off guard with just how warm it was, im just glad my friend noticed straight away as things could of taken a turn for the worst if not noticed even a few minutes more..

some great storys well charlie is learning a few more words now lol he has been caught saying very quietly (shut up shut up & behave ) he must have learned these from the kids getting told off haha he has also started mumbling sentances but i cant make out what he was saying, so everyday is a school day in here it seams

i always used to use the clicker noise (if you know what i mean lol) with my mouth to get the attention of my late dog and my friends dogs when they come to visit, well charlie picked up straight away that when i make that sound with my mouth the dog would come straight away and sit next to me, so charlie quickly used this new noise to his advantage haha he would click at the dog and it would come to his cage haha it was funny watching it as he climbed down the bottom then puffed himself up at my friends dog

the wolf whistle ? lol yeah charlie does that to everyone, its very flattering when he ignores the mrs and wolf whistles at me as we walk in lol
