  1. "Wanna go for a ride, Pal" Stewie has a back pack i strap on and take him for bicycle rides. He can be sitting in his "tree" in the livingroom looking out the window, and i can tell he is board, and he will anounce " wanna go for a ride pal?" I will ask him to do sounds, ex. do a chicken, he squacks like chicken, cat, dog, rooster, crow, but half way through he says," can ya give me a prise"? an almond
  2. "turd" Stewie and Gracie. I call Stewie a turd when he is bad. He has never repeated the word so i have used it often. I adopted Gracie a year ago, and she picked it up immediately. Even refers to stewie as turd. Stewie sings a song, Gracie tells him "good job turd!"
  3. I don`t know, maybe the first year when my wife took seperate vacations,so someone was with stewie. Or maybe it was while she was on vacation, and stewie was screaming relentlessly, and i thought i`llshoot him and then turn the gun on myself! Or maybe this morning while i was spoon feeding stewie cerial, and gracie was eating out of my bowl! none the less, all the $ in the world could buy my greys.
  4. Sounds like gracie hit the lottery! I have 2 cags. Stewie ( spoiled rotten), and Gracie, rehomed, and finally settling into her new home. It takes a lot of time to figure out a seven yr. old grey. She came from a good home, but they only feed her seeds, cuz thats what she liked. Im slowly getting her on other foods, with a good seed for snacks. Does everyone name their grey, Gracie? LOVE MY GREYS
  5. have a question about building an outside cage. I have had mixed answers about using galvanized wire for cage. Stainless is very expensive. Can anyone shed some light on this subject.
  6. my cag, stewie, loves his morning bike ride in his backpack,on my bicycle! back pack is by " celltei".We use it to transport him everywhere. we had a store bought backpack previous to this one, and he riped holes in it in very short time. the celltei is african grey proof! I cant imagine not having one. i gives us the freedom to take him with us vs. leaving him home. And no, i dont work for celltei. This thing is just awsum.
  7. Enjoy your new friend, love it to pices. I bought a back pack for stewie,my 4 yr cag. He loves it.I take him for bike rides daily. He ask every morning "wanna go for a ride, pal". Look up "celltei" or pack-o-bird on computer. I have had mine 3 yrs, and he hasnt hurt it at all. It get the bird out of the house, and exposes him to different things. Cars, trucks, lawnmowers, all noises, and lots of people. Stewie likes to whistle at people, for attention.
  8. I adopted Gracie, 7yrs old 6 months ago. She was all plucked, under weight, and pretty much a mess. But a real sweetie. I found she would eat accorn squash, and soon scrambbled eggs. Just keep offering foods. Gracie is more likely to try a new food if it comes off my plate. As for biting in the cage, my other grey, stewie, he calls the shots. I can tell by his posture if he is going to bite. The cage is their domain. If the feathers come up, leave em alone. once he is out the door i can pick him up. Be paient. Rehoming a grey takes time.
  9. hello everybody, glad to be aboard. I have 2 greys, stewie 4yrs and gracie, reciently adopted, 7 yrs old. lived and learned, byaccident, good and bad,but the best information i ever got, was to socialize stewie. with this in mind, i bought a back pack, when he was young, and we went for walks, then for bike rides. he enjoys the people he meets and it has made him a better bird. Back pack is by "CELLTEI". Check it out. What a life saver.
