  1. Oliver is in a cage! No more incubator. Hes starting to eat "solid" foods too. Man he is growing up fast.
  2. Did you mean the 17x19 kings cage or the 20x29?
  3. Yea its a lot of fun playing with the babies. Im going to announce that its a boy! I named him Oliver. What do you think? Does he look like an Oliver?
  4. What do you think boy or girl?
  5. Thanks! So would you get the larger size? I just have never seen it and I don't know if it is a pain to try to lug around. If anyone has actually been around one could you tell me what you think?
  6. Thanks. The only problem I have with the larger travel cage is it seems so big that it would be incoveinent to use any other time. But I guess it would make a good place to put him when cleaning the cage. Plus I have can modify a cat carrier to use on short outing. He isnt even weaned yet so I will be thinking about it and see what others have to say.
  7. I am going to go ahead and ask this in preparation. Around July we will possibly go on a week long vacation to a cabin in the mountains. Its fine for the grey to go with us. I have an aviator harness I want to get him used to asap to make things a little easier. The cage would be practicly impossible for us to take with us so I will need something else. I have been thinking about the kings aluminum travel cage because it would be good to use later on. I am not sure if the medium sized one is big enough for him to stay in. We wouldnt stay away from the cabin all of the time and while we are there he can be out playing. We will go to different parks and things so he can go some places with us. I think it could be a good socialization learning oppurtunity for him and help us bond. What is your opinion? Here is a link for the cage. http://www.kingscages.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductID=ATS1719
  8. Yea they are "almost" coming out.
  9. You cant see them in any of these pictures but he is getting his red tail feathers.

    My Baby

I went to visit again yesterday. I cannot believe how much he has grown in the past two weeks! He is such a sweet baby and made a ton of noises. I cant wait to bring him home! The DNA results should be back tomorrow. I am going to keep all of my question and anything else in this one thread until he is weaned if that is ok. This first picture is from two weeks ago and the rest are from yesterday for comparision.
  11. Haha. Those are all funny stories. Thanks for sharing with me. Just an update on my grey, he is growing alot, and she sent off the dna test yesterday.
  12. Thanks. I will be happy with the bird no matter how it acts. I'll still love him. I was just wondering because I have never been around a fully grown grey.
  13. My guess would have been it depends how much they have been socialized and played with.
  14. So I am just wondering in african greys like to spin around and jump and play like macaw. I met a hyacinth macaw today and he was an awesome bird. You could hold him by his feet (one or both) and his beak and you could grab his feet and spin him around. Are African greys that playful?
  15. This is how the visit went. When we got there she came out to meet us, and she was really nice. She took us to the room where the incubator is. I caught my first glimpse. He was in a plastic container snuggling with a little red teddy bear. She fixed up his formula and took him out to feed him. He is so funny when he eats! Its like he is smacking his lips. Once he got his fill I washed my hands really good and got to hold him in his towel. He was a lot heavier than he looks. He has little feathers covering most of his body and the flight feather are just starting to come out. So I got to rub his head and pet him. I set him back down and he decided to show off. He stood up on his wobbly legs for about a minute, and my mom got plenty of pictures. (Ill have to post them later) Then he tried walking around a little bit. I think he was trying to snuggle against my warm hands. Before he got too cold and tired she put him back into the incubator. He got against the bear again and starting to go to sleep. Then it was time to let him rest so we went into her living and I got to hold her 4 month old sun conure. He was so nice. Her timneh gave us the stare down the entire time we were near him. He had his feathers ruffled up untill everyone but me left the room. Then he dicided to calm down and make some sounds. Then it was time to go. We spent a little over an hour there and I enjoyed every second. I cant wait for in a few weeks when he can stay out of the incubator and walk around and play with me. But anyway it was a fun experience and I think he enjoyed the attention.
  16. Yes Ill be sure to take pictures.
  17. Well this Sunday I get to go meet the little fellow for the first time. He has to stay in the incubator because he is still little, but she said she will feed him when I am there. So he can have a few head rubs. Im excited!
  18. Thanks. Aerial, I think Marco is a good name.
  19. Thanks everyone I feel so welcomed. As for names, I like the older style names. I have tought about Oliver. I havent really thought of any good names for a girl. The breeder is going to send of the information of it to be dna sexed in about 3 weeks. Plus I will get to meet him/her around that time so it might make it easier to decide. But I am open for any suggestions!
  20. Well I havent put to much thought into that yet. I have thought about Oliver or Olivia, and I also like Truman. My breeder said that in 2 or 3 weeks when he is 5 weeks old she will send off the stuff to have him sexed. Also at that time I will be able to go meet him. That might help me decide a little. I like the older style names.

You said youd be getting yours around the time I get mine right? Do you know what you will name yours?

  21. I forgot about my two dogs and some outdoor cats. And I am sorry I didnt mean a couple of weeks I meant when he is weaned so it will be more than ten weeks.
  22. Hello my name is Jake. I will be getting a congo african grey in a couple weeks. I thought I might join this website to help me learn a little more. I have been doing TONS of research. I have two guinea pigs, two budgies and a lot of chickens that I own and take care of. I really enjoy all animals in general. I am hoping the grey will be a great addition to my life. Here is the most recent picture the breeder has sent me. Thanks for reading!
