  2. I just purchased my second grey yesterday....such the cutest little baby. Will be ready to come home in about 4 weeks. Just curious if anybody knows a good place to purchase cages online. Not sure if I will find any cheaper than my local store, but thought it was worth a try. Thanks, Wayne
  3. thats what i would think, but i might just sand them all down just to be safe. thanks for you input.
  4. I have a question and hopefully can get it answered. After reading alot of threads in this forum, i discovered that many people purchase inexpensive little things to make toys with. I.E. wicker baskets, plastic toys, etc. My question is two part. First when you purchase some of these items, how do you really know what wicker basket is untreated, or what type of material is on the toy. Secondly, the painted things that people buy, how do you know paint is safe. I found a great toy today, painted, so i called the manufacture to ask what kind of paint it was, they simply told me that it meets all standards and is water based and safe for children. I want to continue making Lilo's toys, I just dont want to give her something i shouldnt. Any thoughts or comments would be great. Thanks, Wayne

    Help !

Thank you both so much for getting back to me. Lilo seems to be her wonderful self, other than this picking at one area. From what i have read and can tell, it appears this is her first molt. Her vet will be back in two weeks. She is such a wonderful little girl,, however, she was purchased as my bird, but has completely bonded with my wife. Lilo will let me hold her, but the minute mommy shows up, its all over. She truly loves her mommy. Gonna read up on the aloe juice bath, i have heard a bit about this. Thanks again. I will let you know how the princess is doing. Wayne

    Help !

Our CAG is 11 months old, it a bit timid with new toys, but gets great reports from the vet. Here is our problem. Just in the last few days, Lilo has started biting some feathers on just one wing. I enclosed a few pictures. I have done alot of reading and can not determine if it is plucking, i think there is a first molt happening as well. I am concerned and want to stop the plucking right away if it is in fact that. Like i stated, she is well socialized, plays with her toys, just started speaking. Dont feel it is our of boredom. My vet is away for two weeks, she is the only avian vet on Cape Cod. Any ideas
  7. Last couple of days my grey, Lilo (10 mos ) has been picking at her feathers a little more than what seemed to be normal preening. She has also lost a few off of her back an it looks like she has some stress feathers on her chest. Seems a little nippy as well. I have done alot of reading, and it sounds like maybe molting. Any thoughts would be really great. Thanks, Wayne
