  1. Thanks, DawL. We're at 119 now, so I think we might make it by the end of the day. We're demanding "before and after" pics, so if he follows through, I'll let you know. > Andy's evil Uncle.... Jim
  2. Hi everyone.... My 16 year old nephew is a wanna-be rapper. He has a Facebook page for his rap alter-ego. On this page, he has publicly stated that if he receives 150 'likes' on his page by Friday, he'll SHAVE HIS HEAD! My brother (his father) wants to teach him a lesson about making grandiose claims and/or following through on things he says he'll do in public. As such, we are trying everything we can think of the get the 150 'likes' to force a shaven head!! If you would be so kind a(and you already have a Facebook account), can you go to this page and 'like' it to help teach my nephew a lesson? Simply 'like' and move on....trust me, you probably won't want to listen to any of his music.... :roll eyes: Anyway, here's the link: https://www.facebook.com/DrewTMusic If you read this after Friday, January 6, 2012, please ignore this request. Thanks, all!!
  3. Given the scenario, this is probably the best (read: potential) outcome. I'm sure your concern is at least making the daughter second guess her treatment of the bird, and that can't be bad!!
  4. I'm happy and excited for you!! Grimm will be home before you know it!!!
  5. How do you make your gsd "parrot aware'? My gsd seems facinated with my cockatiel to the point where I think he's really waiting for me to turn my back and it's lunchtime!! I onlt bring Peaches (the bird) out when I can closely watch everyone, but when I get my CAG, I'm worried because I want the bird to have plenty of out-of-the-cage time. The gsd will probably have to be outside the entire time..... Suggestions?
  6. I'll be working until 11:45pm tonight, then driving home....HOPEFULLY beating most of the drunks on the roads!! Then it's back at work at 1pm tomorrow. When I get home, there may be a small galss of champagne waiting with the 'countdown' saved on TIVO. If not, I'll just go to bed and snuggle.
  7. I think under the circumstances, you did everything right. You tried being subtle, but this woman sounds stubborn and immature. There's not much you can do with a combination like that except hope and pray the person grows up one day. One would HOPE a dog breeder would understand the need to take specific care of your animals dependent on their specific needs. My guess is that her dogs are treated like animals rather than members of her family. You saw a wrong and tried to right it. What more cold anyone ask? She probably surrounds herself with like-minded people, so breaking through would be a Herculean task.
  8. For those of you who use apple cider vinegar to clean your cage....do you use it straight or mix it with water? If you mix, what's the ratio? I plan on putting together a spray bottle with apple cider vinegar for cleaning the cages and want to have an effective yet safe spray for the job. Thanks in advance for the info!
  9. What a gorgeous guy!!! I'm sure the wait will be worth it!
  10. I would ask about a "back up" deposit on the CAG to guarantee your place in line should the original buyer never follow through.
  11. Note to self: beaks contantly grow. Minor breaks/chips are no problem. Whew....learning SO much on here.....Thanks everyone!!
  12. Wonderful news indeed!! I'm sure you'll see continued progress in Barnaby's health and vitality. 50% medical treatment, 50% love!!!
  13. Here's to hoping Barnaby gets better fast! He's in the best possible place for his recovery, and he's probably tougher than you know, so with luck the road to recovery will be a quick one. Crossing my fingers for you!!
  14. Sounds like quite a flock!! Welcome! Please post some pics of your fids so we can put a face to a name.
  15. we have an alarm system, too....here it is: Once JayJay decides our fid is part of the family, welllllll, let's just day I wouldn't suggest trying to harm any of us.
  16. I made sure my partner read it to help avoid the problems that will arise when we get our CAG. Hopefully, it worked.

    Cookie!

I thought it was interesting that neither bird was interested in the huge chunks that fell to the countertop. Is that normal, or do they forage for whatever crumbs are available after the main source of whole cookies is gone? Cute video, and thanks for fixing the link!!
  18. Lola is a beautiful bird!! Great pics, thanks!!
  19. Love the pic!! Too bad Santa didn't leave a Grey under MY tree this year!!! (not to worry, there's a CAG egg with my name on it...)
  20. I found the "Thanks" button a week or so ago!!! Accordingly, I thanked DawL for the post!!
  21. There should be a "like" button for posts like this!!
  22. Drive safely and take lots of pics!! Even if you're just 'window shopping', seeing all-things bird related in one place is awesome!! (just don't look too closely at some of the price tags!!) For some reason, my favorite thing are the cages. I'm always looking for what I think would be the perfect combo of size, price and looks for my home (and future very spoiled CAG). Happy Holidays!
  23. If we're tossing out Ohio credentials, I grew up in Beavercreek, Oh just outside of Dayton. Most of my relatives are from (and still live in) Sharonville, Oh near Cincy. As much as I love San Diego, I may retire in Ohio when I get old and crinkly. Or maybe not....does it still get chilly there this time of year?!?!?
