  1. Jake is a small TAG and most of his toys are mediums but that too depends on what it is and what it is made out of.
  2. I replaced all my candles with the led ones. No fuss, no fire danger and no risk of someone lighting one without thinking.
  3. I can imagine the commotion when someone goes to investigate and lands on it.
  4. Is it something that Brutus grew out of? Jake does it quite often but he's a baby still. I try and encourage hard play. He takes great joy in standing on his boing, flapping his wings, and screaming while the boing goes in circles.
  5. We aren't putting a tree up this year. I have 2 artificial ficus trees in the corners and I think I'll just cut some paper snow flakes and hang them on instead. Almost all my ornaments are close to 50 years old and don't want to chance Jake getting into them and possibly getting sick.
  6. Hanging upside down by one toe nail, shaking and or biting the offending object and screaming like someone is pulling on their tail. Yup its play time. Just wait until you yell "you better hold on tight" and you get laughed at.
  7. Jakes current favorite is a thick oatmeal cooked with flax seed, millet, and hemp seed. He thinks he's died and gone to heaven if I chop up and sprinkle about 1/4 of a frozen cranberry on the top. He eats a teaspoon, maybe a teaspoon and a half if there is cranberry, of this mix. Since our greys shouldn't have fruit except as an occasional treat I limit the cranberry to the first Saturday of the month.
  8. Yes they can have mood swings.
  9. Jake is out of cage and can interact with us from between 3:30 and 4:30 when we get home until bedtime around 9. On weekends it is from 7am until 9pm. During his out time he may interact with us, explore independently or nap. Every day is a little different in what he wants.
  10. I only use "step up" when I'm not giving Jake a choice. "Wanna come?" is for when he has a choice. "Lets go" is for him to hop aboard and we will take a walk around into another room. This way he knows my intentions and when he has a choice. I don't know if this is the right way or the best way but so far its working for us. I also offer an arm or the flat top of my hand to step onto instead of fingers.
  11. Some young people are excellent caretakers and some are not ready for that level of commitment and responsibility. At 10 my son was the primary caretaker of an Amazon, and part time caretaker of 2 Quakers and did an excellent job. He started taking care of pets when he was 3 and he willingly increased his responsibility as he grew older.

    I Remember Game

My father does and when ever I visit I pop in the Partridge Family 8 track.
  13. Oh how frightening for you all. I hope you can get someone out to look at your chimney and find out why it didn't draw.

    I Remember Game

I remember Pong and I still have a non cable ready tv with knobs. The darn thing still works and refuses to die. I stuck it in the basement as a backup. My house has a milk door, wooden counter tops in the kitchen, bubbled glass in the cabinet fronts, iron furnace vents, push button light switches, and some of the electric knobs from the knob and tube wiring are present but not being used. Does anyone remember the plastic sticks in fudgecicles and popcicles? They had holes and you could build stuff with them once you ate enough. Or the McDonalds characters? There was Ronald, Hamburgler, Fry Guys, Grimace, Captain Crook, Big Mac and Mayor McCheese.
  15. I coaxed Jake on the scale today. 277 grams. Woo hoo. Ever so slowly his weight is creeping up to the magical number of 290 grams. Finally finding a pellet that doesn't make him itch and that he likes is paying off. He has been so much more active and affectionate toward us now that he is more satisfied. He still eats very little during the day but short of quitting my job I have accepted that it is just his way.
  16. Coincidental mutterings or something more? This afternoon I was looking for my battery operated tv to try out the new antenna I bought for it. When I asked my partner in crime if he had seen it turned around and asked me if I had looked for it. In frustration and not a little irritated I said I know where it was, I know its suppose to be but I don't know where it is now. Jake, who had been chattering away, promptly exclaimed Bad Boy!. We have never used that phrase, ever. We use "not nice" when he does something he shouldn't, "no bite" and "good boy" to praise him so they are never confused. I am amazed that he put those words together and used them at just the right time.
  17. I think that is great. So if you had one where would your birds choose to go? I think Jake would use one to chase the cat.
  18. Nancy they do make dehydrated blueberries and raspberries. I know Target carries dried blueberries.
  19. I use freeze dried vegies. Jake likes the peas and carrots. I get mine from Target.
  20. Only time will tell if Gracie got your message of no bite and is willing to go along. There is no harm in giving her a gentle reminder about being nice before you offer your nose for a nuzzle.
  21. Dear Santa, I have been a good boy since I hatched. I would like a container of "roni's" without the yucky green ones, a bag of safflower seeds, another strand of beads and bells, and boings lots and lots of boings. Have a Merry Christmas Santa. Jake
  22. Oh gosh yes. He has added to my grey hairs. To my partners dismay I added back the piece at the top that allows the boing to spin.
  23. It sounds like she worked really hard on that list and gave it a lot of thought. The coupons were a sweet touch.
