  2. wow!! that is an impressive goody. I am thrilled to have found this forum and get all this info! thank you so much...
  3. we sometimes go away for weekends. we have an extra (not so huge as home cage) for weekends away. how do you others transport your birds in the car???? i have heard of people that use a 'cat carrier box'... (thank goodness for having a 'pick-up'...) B)
  4. thanx. I have noticed that Japie prefers certain toys, but haven't changed anything around. oops and yes, Japie has been playing with the kids toys, but only wooden blocks and somehow got quite attached to a dinosaur...
  5. Everywhere I read it is said that you have to spoil our feathered friends with plenty of toys. How often do you change these toys???? Luckily in our home we have two kids under 6 and they are all to keen to share their stuff...
  6. strange how I also by pure luck found out that Japie opens his beak when he hears the 'clicking noise' my kids made while I fed him... Now I do it when he gets distracted. (hand feeding that is...)
  7. Hi, I'm also a new parrot mommy. before I got Japie, I had to do all the research on what to feed etc. (my husband insisted I become the 'guru' first) Japie is 10 weeks, I still feed him formula, but as an extra I give him all kinds of legumes. Beans and chickpeas, that kinda stuff... i cook a batch & let some sprout. He loves these. Also give him veggies fresh and the frozen kind ( I put this in microwave for a while to thaw). Good luck with your grey, I read just about any post to get as much info as posible.
  8. howzit fairY! Japie had his first bath... Not sure if he "loved" it, but definately enjoyed trying to drink the fine mist... I have posted a picture of him on my profile, all wet! All the flapping and waving his wings was caught on video.
  9. Thank you. I appreciate the input. It is great to use this website... And here I am half way around the world in Africa... will let you know as soon as my baby has his first bath!!
  10. Not yet. Was not sure when to introduce this bathing thing... should I wet him completely? We have really hot weather, 32ded C.
  11. Our baby is 10 weeks (tomorrow) and has some dried formula on his chest feathers.Any advice on how to get it off? the breeder lady told us that baby will clean it himself... We have had him for just a week and his already 'n great friend to have around...
