SO I got him/her Monday, Thursday she flew from 6 feet away to me. So I started calling her by saying come one and tapping my shoulder. This has worked for the most part. She lands on my head so I just pick her up off my head and walk around the house with her. I'm a bit shocked the short amount of time I have had her and she has picked up flying to me, on call. I've been saying, Hello, what's up, how you doing, good morning, good night, bye, getting on the computer, Hey Tommy (My dog) and hey to each family member who comes in. She hasn't picked any of this up and don't think she will any time soon but I'm working on repetitive speech. She seems fine with everyone in the house however when my friend/neighbor came over yesterday she didn't like him at all, growling at him. I walked her away and she was still growling. This is the same person that I have spoke of in previous posts that got an African Grey 1 to 2 years ago. Besides growling I only hear a Chirp from her when she sees me or wants out of the cage and a hick-up sounding "chirp". She has firmly gripped my finger but nothing really painful. She loved to attack the keyboard but after putting her in the cage, it hasn't been an issue any more. She also gave me attitude but that was nipped in the but fast. SHe seems to be a really nice bird now that we know who the alpha is so to speak.

I didn't like being in Iraq one bit, (Ok, the local food was good, saying I was in Iraq and seeing a different culture was cool). Point is I know how much it sucks! How much time do you have left over there?

I've been watching videos of African Greys talking and doing different things. Very freaking annoying watching a video and having a TV or radio blaring in the background. I'm just saying! Think before you record!

Just saw him/her drinking from the water bottle for the first time. I've been holding a water bottle out for her and putting my pinky on the ball of the bottle and she drank from my finger. I guess she figured it out! WOOT!

I guess a trip to the vet tomorrow to get dna done so I don't name him or her something that isn't the correct sex, thanks for all the feedback. Keep it coming

I'm not really good with naming my animals. My dog was named by my son (Tommy) however my GF doesn't think animals should have "Common" human names. I have named none of my snakes. People ask if I am going to name my fish and I tell them no. I like a simple but quick name like Jack for example Vs. Alexander. I'm not asking anyone to name my Bird, I really do not like when people ask those type of questions. I'm just asking for suggestions on some cool names and see if someone here can bring up a name I haven't thought of and can use.

She likes to TRY and sit on my head and shoulder. Then she started, not really biting to hurt but enough pressure to let me know that removing her wasn't what she wanted. That's the end of that fun and game! She will quickly realize she needs me, I don't need to be up her butt 24/7 lol. Her eating has picked up.

First full day home. Is it normal for the appetite to be down? I can't say she has been eating all that much.

I'll get more pictures, was having trouble with my camera last night. As for the snakes, ALL are in the garage. I can walk her all over the house and the only snake she will see is a fake one :-)

My Grey finally came home! Much, much cooler than I ever thought! He/she was scared to death when I got her home so I put her in her cage and let her be. In about an hour I say down next to the cage to watch tv and he/she was ready to come out and cuddle. SHe did this twice tonight. What a sweetie...

Never seen it. He was a good sport... I've seen those birds before on TV, I think (If I remember correctly) they are from New Zeland?

The owner of A&E cages call me today (out of the blue). We had a nice talk about the situation and wanted to make sure I was happy.

Last time I took the GF to see the birds, this time I took my son. He was really excited. I asked him if he wanted to go to the pet store. He asked, for what? I said, so I can pick up mice and rats for the snakes. He said, no. I told him the birds would be there and he was out the door ready to go! On the way home I looked at him and said, do you still want a bird if it poops on you? He froze for a second and you could see the thought going through his head. A few seconds later he cheerfully said yes! I said what if it poops on your head? YES, I don't care I want the bird!

My friend from the pet store texted me today and told me some of my bird stuff was in. I texted him back and asked him next time my breeder comes up there to hangout with his birds to call me and let me know. He texted right back stating he was going to call him. I got a text back saying he would be up at the pet store in 45 minutes with them. I met the breeder and we sat around for maybe an hour playing with the birds and talking about them. I got some pictures of them. I'm not sure what one I will be getting but I have 2 I liked and wrote down their ban ID. I will see them soon and see if I still favor them or the other one. Ok, ok, you really didn't click on this link to read the post... I know, I know. Here are the babies.

Cupid, from reading forums and website I think this is 100% normal. I am no expert and I'm sure an expert will chime in and correct me if I am wrong. Some talk, some don't talk, some talk when they think no one is watching etc...

Sure, it can be turned around however the bowls face the front now but if I turn the rail around they will face the back. Ginny at A&E has been great and understands the importance of customer service. It's not really A&E's fault but they are taking care of the situation. I am happy with my purchase, love the quality and customer service! I would buy A&E again. I reieved my replacement parts today. I'm waiting on the play top rail that will be mailed next week. 10 stars IMO for A&E

I'm not a big fan of FOX, I deleted the channel so when I flip through stations it never shows up. :-) (And those annoying channels that always want you to buy stuff) I say put a shock collar around the BFs neck and when he cusses ZAAAP! ;-) I kid of course. But yes, last thing I want is my bird saying language like that too. I guess when I watch HBO's Deadwood and things like that I need to have the mute button close by ;-)

Towards the end of July or begining of August. I want to make sure it's eating on its own and as long as it is doing that I don't mind feeding if I have too. I called and emailed Avian Emporium AKA: http://www.bird-supplies.net this past Monday. I should have all replacement parts tomorrow and a $25.00 refund. They shipped the stuff out Tuesday but they didn't send the bar that holds the small bowl but instead sent out larger bowl. Today I called A&E and asked them how much this part would cost and they told me the cage I got the bar is on the right and comes with large bowl holders. I asked why I was sent 2 small bowls along with telling her that I went by what the picture showed and that for the money I thought I would get exactly what was in the picture. I gave her an example of buying a computer online and getting a diffrent looking computer than I odered blah blah blah. I also told her I wanted the play toy hook on the left as the picture showed because it would be close to the wall and that's what I wanted. She is going to check with someone tomorrow to see if I can get it. I did tell her in an email to send a msg up the chain of command about making better instructions but I didn't get a reply on that. I love the quality of the cage and customer service is working with me without any real issues. I would buy again but probably would not let a company take parts from other cages (I WAS 100% AWARE OF THIS WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAGE) and just wait for a new one to come in.
