  1. I've owned an Umbrella cockatoo, very sweet, loveable, etc, but would have those screaming "fits" when I was out of sight. Very stressful. I'm sold on the African birds... I love my greys, but would have a Jardine's parrot again in a heartbeat. They are loveable, pretty, funny, playful and talk as well. They are just the right size, bigger than a cockatiel, smaller than a goffin's. My favorite of all.
  2. I do similiar birdie bread, but use crushed pineapple (the kind without sugar added) instead of milk. There is enough juice in the can to make up for any other liquid. I will also add red palm oil, flax seed, oatmeal, and whatever else I happen to have on hand. It sure makes a mess in their cage, but they do enjoy it. I think I will try your apple juice next time for a change.
  3. I wouldn't spray it on her. It's very oily stuff. However, you can mix a bit with her food. I use Palm Oil when I make birdie bread
  4. I went through a regular routine with my female, Patty. I would say in one voice....."where do you live",I would turn around and follow by a higher voice with her actual street address. So.what did she do??..... she now says both..... the question "where do you live" along with the response of her street address. She just loves to say it over and over. I think I've finally learned that approach doesn't work well..
  5. My greys have been together for 12 1/2 yrs. They are an unrelated DNA'd pair. I hand raised Bigelow, and Patty joined him when she was 8 months old. I tried to breed them starting at age 7, and tried 3 more times when they were older. Each time there were 3 eggs, but they were not fertile. I felt so badly for them, I have decided not to try again. I just enjoy their company now. I have successfully raised 2 other clutches with Bigelow's parents and enjoyed it tremendously. I now, however, just have Bigelow and Patty. They are both talkers and very social.
  6. My name is Judy. I have a pair of Congos. I raised them as babies and they are now 12 and 13 yrs. Bigelow and Patty. I'm looking forward to all the information available thru Grey forums. I'm sure you will see me post often.
