  1. I got my first CAG bite last night. I had taken Quinton into the bedroom to work on step ups. He wont stay on my hand but gets on my shoulder, well he bit my cheek while he was on my shoulder!! It hurt BAD! I screamed which I know I shouldnt have done. I am a bit scared to handle him anymore. He has been here about 5 days now and I keep hearing how important it is to teach him to step up for me but I dont think he is ready.
  2. I got bit!!!!! OUCH!!! Maybe I need to lay off trying to train him for a few days, that beak HURTS!!!
  3. What about fluffing? The breeder told me to NEVER try to get a fluffed up grey to step up. My quaker has 2 fluffs, a sweet cuddling one, and a "You better back up NOW" one.
  4. Well, his cage is in the main living area of our home, should I take him into a bedroom to work with him?
  5. My main question is will he become hand tame enough to step up regularly. Not cuddling is ok with me I just need him to step up for me in case of an emergency or vet trips. He is hardly ever IN his cage unless he is napping, he flies sometimes to the bedroom if he cant see me. He is such a cat, he is so funny, he is such a baby though you can tell in some ways how he acts. I love him so much already. My Quaker is an extreme cuddle bug, I understand if that doesnt suit him, I just need him to step up for me or my husband in case something were to happen. He keeps trying to fly as I type this, and is aiming toward me These birds are scary smart too, he has a chain toy and a rope toy and is trying to tie the rope through the chains. Fluffing, what does it mean when they fluff. My Quaker has a sweet fluff and a "I will bite you if you touch me" fluff.
  6. He will eventually get a larger cage! The one he has now is suitable but just not for me He is just veryy attached to it.
  7. I just have a couple of questions, from surfing the forum I see not all greys are very cuddly. My grey is hand tame, but he has only known his breeder as a human and we are his first family, he is almost a year old. I know is early in our relationship but do you think he will become more hand tame for us? If he flies off of his cage he will step up for me to help get him back to the cage. He also is a theif. I had a slice of pizza on my plate and turned to get a drink and when I turned back around he had the slice of pizza. I got it from him minus a bite or two, so we will be more careful of that now! All advice is very welcome.
  8. I love him so much already. The cage is is in now is too small for a grey but it is the one he came in and I dont want to force him out of it now, but he needs a larger one once he settles in more. Quiet? LOL, Quiet???? I havent seen too much of quiet since he has been here, he is more vocal than my Quaker parrot!! I LOVE is sounds he makes, and he talks in 2 different voices back and forth it is so funny. He is quiet at night, but other than that unless he is napping he talks or buzzes 24/7. Its super funny!
  9. Hi there! We just got Quinton about 4 days ago, and he is so different from our other birds, he is a bit shy still but will step up if he flys away from his cage. He is a sweetie but seems to want to nip a bit. This is his first family, he lived with the breeder until now, and he is almost a year old. I just got him a new toy and he LOVES it! He is extremely smart so far, cant wait to get to know him.
