So, ive done my research, and my family and i have decided to get a Timneh. We want to wait a few more months, get more research and such first. Even though my heart is set on a Timneh, i am Nervous!! LOL y? I dont know. I suppose its like when your pregnant and nervous about having a baby. Did anyone else feel like this?? Im not sure if i want you to talk me out of it LMAO or talk me into it!! HAHAHA I guess i worry too much. I do have two small human children, who even though their little crap heads HAAHHAHAH, they listen very well when its something that is important. We have a parrotlet and they dont mess with her, and she HATES them LOL Im not so woried about a tag not liking them, i know they dont prefer children due to their fastness and startling them. I am home 5 days out of the week, and when at work, can bring my baby with me. So them being alone isnt an issue. Im not really sure why i am so scared. I guess im afraid of doing something wrong, making them pluck or something ya kno?......now im blabbing LOL Ok, so i guess the question is.......did you feel like this before getting your baby?? Any advice would be SOO GREAT!!!!!

LOL ah, i totally cant wait for the screams, lol. I saw a video with an Amazon, or something and it TOTALLY mimicked an infant scream, to the TEE!! LOL you prob saw it, it was on here. My two year old is a little whiney girl lol and Im hoping my new little baby grey wont pick that up. But if it does it does lol Im expecting to have four children when i do get my grey. My 2 year old, my 3 year old, my baby grey and my husband! HAHAH its ok though. I have lots of patience and thankfully time to give Thanks again!!!!!!!!

Thank you all, and <--> lol im not sure how to make the arrow go downward haha, thanks for the great advice, i will definately read that post!! I am at work now and want to make sure i get quiet time to read it lol Also Question to Reggieroo, you said in your post that you had a one year old. How does your AG handle a baby around? Does Murphy mimic her cries? LOL i heard that if you had a loud household, then your ag will be loud as well. Is Murphy pretty loud? Loudness doesnt bother me, but the crying like my two year old over and over might get kinda anoying LMAO!!! Just wondering, i guess i could have posted this else where, but thought since you had written me advice, id just ask ya here LOL Thanks again!!!

Thank you for all the advice I think we are going to go ahead and let them grow. Like Georgiesmum said, and if it doesnt work, we can always clip them. But we cant just put feathers where there arent any just to make them fly again lol kinda like hair, you can cut it off, but you cant just put it back on the same day you realize you made a mistake hahha. Thanks again, you all are sooo helpful! I love this site so much lol and i have sooo many more questions to ask before i even think about bringing home my new baby

HI ALL!! Happy Thanks Giving!! I was just wondering when your baby goes to bed and when they wake up? Do yours ask to go to bed or do you have a certian bed time/wake up time every day? Thanks
-
I read those posts, and somewhere, maybe im mixing them up with reading something else lol, but any way, some where it says that when they crash land it could hurt them really bad!! But if their clipped or not, they will crash land at some point right!! OMG lol this really is the hardest decision! And it seems like such a small one, but it isnt!! ITS HUGE!!!!
-
Thank you I will definately read those!!!!

Thank you sooo much for the advice I was asking also, because we have a parrotlet. we decided to let her wings grow and as soon as she started getting more confident about being able to fly, she started biting whenever she was near us!! She was soo agressive, we decided to clip her wings because that was the only thing that had changed in her life. Sure enough, after we clipped them, she was back to being her sweet (to daddy, she doesnt like mama less i have food LOL) self. Im wondering if this will happen with the grey as well???? Thanks again everyone!!

I do have two children, they are small and we have a thingy that goes over the front door so they cant open it. I guess im just terified that my birdy will head out the door. we dont have screens on some of our windows, yet in the summer time we have an a/c unit that goes into the window,so it wont be open. We have a screen door in the front, and a sliding glass door in the back, with no screen....I dont want to inept (is that the right word? LOL) my future bird because of me being selfish. I read a forum saying that they can fly either clipped or not????? ugg lol and that if we clip him/her ourselves, they can hold a grudge??? Just trying to get some facts straight LOL

Ok, so many of you that have seen my posts, know that i am going to get a baby Timneh in a few months. Im doing all the research i can, until i feel that i am prepared. I am totally stoked LOL and Soo ready to get one now!! However, i am not goin on impulse, but am doing my research So now, my question....To clip or not to clip? I plan on taking my baby outside, ALWAYS ON A HARNESS, but i am leaning towards clipping becuase i read on Craigslist and other sights about the lost birds, either flying out the window or door and such. I am scared to death to think that i will bond with this beautiful bird, and not clip its wings and have it fly out of my life!!!! I know that they need that self esteem to with flying and stuff. So do i clip for my own selfish reasons? Or let it go and hope to GOD that my baby never flies out the door?
-
So, as long as the weather permits, i can take them outside and not have to worry about lighting in the house? Just making sure Thank you!!!
-
ok, ive read thru these and got a few different answers lol. Some say they NEED light, others dont. I plan to put my grey in the living room with me and my family. I am cold blooded at heart lol and have a heater on, not a wall heater, just one that you get at wallys for like 15 bucks. I dont keep it on all the time, but it does the job for me lol is that enough heat for a bird? Or do i HAVE to get a light for it?
-
thank you for all your replies. I didnt even think about people pokin and stuff, which im sure alot of people would!! As for pet stores, i never even thought of bringing them there lol around here alot of the pet stores are kind of.....icky? good enough word lol I will def not be bringing my baby to any of these places. At my work however, our guests arent alowed behind a certian area, it is blocked off lol, do you think just the people coming into the office would be too much?? thanks again everyone
-
OK, how many people have brought their grey into a store? Like Walmart or something. did you get kicked out? If not, How did your bird handle all the people? I ask for a few reasons, one, i want my baby to go with me everywhere, so i was just seeing who brought theirs into stores and stuff with them, also becuase, i work at a Motel. So we have LOTS of people coming and going. I get to bring my baby with me, so im hoping he/she will be okay with seeing lots of strangers coming and going. THank everyone p.s. I plan on getting a baby in a few months or so. Still doing all my research and getting toys and planing on which cage to get
-
Thank you!!!!!!! I apreciate the suggestions, and i think im going for the 32 X 23 X66 one. Ill keep ya all posted lol And im sure we will be talking soon, as i have many more questions Thanks again!!!!!!!!!

LOL thanks again everyone!!

Thanks you!! I looked at the cage more and it says with out the stand it is 32" w X 23"d X36" hi......Thats too small isnt it? LOL
-
ok, couldnt get the pic up LOL but it is 40 1/2" wide X 31 1/5" Deep X 67" High with a skirt and with the play top. Do you think that this is an ok cage? and the bar spacing is 3/4". Thanks for any input And if you dont think this is a good cage, any suggestions on where to look and stuff would be awsome!!! THank you

Thanks guys! And I have had experience with Parakeets, got em when i was a child, they died from old age at 15. Also with the parakeets, we had a Cockatiel, he was a little chunky lol so he was kind of big. I am an avid pet store looker lol, Looker, NOT buyer lol, ive held a few of the bigger birds and stuff. So i feel im pretty ready for the bigger bird. tibanks, thank you i will definately give that sight a looking at when i am done posting this. I greatly apreciate it And another oregonian? What are the odds of that? LOL Im not alone hahahh just playing. Im from Southern Oregon, and boy is it freakin cold down here right now lol
