Well said. My grey had stress bars on her tail too but when they molted out the new ones didn't have them. It did take a long time though.
-
Has she molted all those tail feathers out already?

Oh no problem, I should have explained myself better in my first post. I have noticed the last few days that when I come over to his cage he will rush over for a tickle but if I try to take him out he crawls up and hangs from the top of his cage. His cage is downstairs and I have playstands and baskets on our mainfloor for him to be out on during the day when I am home. I am going to bring his cage home from the lake and have him live upstairs in it for awhile. Hopefully that will help. At least then I won't have to run downstairs 50 times a day to interact with him

Sorry, this is not my first grey. I should have explained better. He steps up fine outside of his cage its just getting him to come out. I know not to chase him around but sometimes I have to because we bring all of our birds to our lake cabin. Just needed some other suggestion on getting him to want to ome out. Food does not work. I probably just need to give him some more time.
-
he will after I chase him around a bit which i don't want to do. He steps up outside of his cage no problem and will go to anyone.

Scout is only 10 months old. I have tried all the things that you have suggested and haven't had any luck yet. I know it hasn't been long at all and I just need to be patient. i don't want to force him to come out but there are times I have to as we have a lake house and the birds go with us on the weekends. He is very sweet when he is out and will let anyone hold him.

I've had Scout for just a little over two months and I know that's not a long time but I can't seem to get him to want to come out of his cage. He's a sweet bird and seems to like me on the rare occasion he does come out. I don't want to force him to come out but I don't want a cage bound bird either. What should I do? He's not food motivated so I'm sort of at a loss. How am I supposed to form a unhealthy bond with my parrot if he won't come out!?!

Do they live outside all the time? Is so they are lucky little guys

Just wanted to share a photo of Rocco

You're welcome. He does sometimes climb down and chew on the side so I stuck some of those willow ball lollipop sticks down there. I like the baskets because it's nice to just pick it up and move him to wherever I am in the house. So much easier than rolling his big playstand all over. I hope it works for you

I love mysafebirdstore.com they have a good selection and I recieved my order super fast. They package everything so nice you can tell they truly care. They even sent along extra foot toys, a little sign that says Welcome to our Nest and some candy for my kiddos. I can't say enough good thing about them!

I finally figured out how to post pictures so here I am. Sorry it's so huge, I don't know how to make them smaller. Hope I don't scare anyone
-
Well that didn't work. Clearly I'm an idiot

My new baby arrived two weeks ago much sooner than I had anticipated. He is starting to settle in and get used to this crazy family . Does anyone know how to post pictures off of an iPhone?
-
I guess I was one that came on here to talk about my dead bird. Was I a "lazy" owner? I certainly didn't think so. I read the stickys and did my research before I purchased my bird. I guess if you don't post a lot here you are not a serious owner and don't care about your bird. i did enjoy these forums however. Hopefully I can find another just as good.
-
I agree. We have a super sweet, very tiny budgie named Loverboy that was hand fed. I actually didn't even realize he could talk until just recently (terrible I know!) He says everything that my grey Willow used to say only in a tiny litle voice. I love him.
-
For sure!!
-
I'm dying!!! Love, love, love the first one. If baby kittens could talk I'm sure that is how they would sound.
-
Oh my goodness, I should have not watched those videos! Now I want one! So cute.
-
So i have decided to put a deposit down on a new baby. It seems really soon as Willow has only been gone a month but the new baby won't be ready for a few months and the house seems so empty without her. I can't believe how nervous I am!! Willow was such a good girl and I hope it was because I did some things right and not because I just got lucky. Anyway, I have been re-reading all of my Grey books and all of the stickys on the forum to make sure I'm ready when he gets here.
-
Cute!! Makes me want to get another baby. Congrats!

Thanks everyone. It is nice to have a place to come where people understand. Most people think it's silly as it was "just a bird". We are devastated! It is hard not to blame myself when, looking back, there were other things I could have done to insure her safety. My husband suggested we get another. I told him that would be like if he died and I just went out the next day and got a new husband. She is irreplaceable. She was such a good, sweet girl and I miss her very much.

I posted two weeks ago about Willow hurting herself after a fall. I took her to the vet and they sedated her to clean it up and make sure the bone wasn't broken. She never woke back up. I am devistated and can't help but think that this is all my fault. I can't believe this happened and that she is gone. Again, please be careful if you have clipped birds.
