  1. Here is Cosmo. He gets quiet as soon as I take out the phone. So we are still working on getting better action shots
  2. Thanks for the input Jayd I'll transition Cosmo to two feedings over the weekend.
  3. You should just put out you tease! Great story! Thanks for sharing some of your and Buddies life together
  4. ^ Dead on! I intend to teach Cosmo our phone number. Everytime the phone rings I'm going to say "phone home! ***-****"
  5. I've been offering cosmo weening foods since about 6 weeks old. He actually didnt care for softened pellets, but took right to munching on them dry. Now at nearly 9 weeks old(this sunday) he eats alot of dry pellets and seeds as well as any veggies and fruits offered(loves apples and sweet potatoes!). He does drink lots of water on his own. Over the past 4-5 days he has begun refusing formula especially in the afternoon and bedtime feedings. He probably only eats 25-30ccs before he starts just spitting it all over himself and giving me an annoyed squawk ("no more!"). I have tried making the formula thinner and thicker, niether has had an effect. He is still gaining weight and continues to be happy and more active by the day so I dont suspect its illness. I think he is just learning to eat for himself during the day. His current feeding schedule is: -offer 50cc formula first thing in the morning, then put fresh pellets and seeds(75% pellets/25% seeds) in his cage for him. -offer 50cc of formula in the afternoon, new fresh pellets and seeds in the cage for him. -offer 50cc of formula before bedtime, remove the food dish from the cage overnight. -I keep fresh water in his cage for him at all times(refreshed at every feeding) Do you guys think its time to cut out the afternoon formula?
  6. All from the Home Depot(hardware store) Its the drinking water pipe used in building homes. In the plumbing section you can find all the bits and pieces. The most used one for my design was the "T" connector. You'll think you bought too many until you start putting it together and quickly run out. I ended up making another trip once I got going and got a better idea of just how many of the things I needed Still, overall I spent under $50 including the $12 cutting tool(way easier than saw!!!) to build both stands.
  7. Last night I put together a playgym and a small stand for on tables We have Vet wrap in different colors on the way to wrap them up.
  8. Cosmo sleeps rolled over on his side nearly on his back when taking naps on my lap Reminds me of my cat... I"ll try to get a pic, but like all other cute behavior he only seems to do it when my phone is in another room
  9. I hope your baby is home safe and sound very soon!
  10. Cosmo just turned 7 weeks old! Heres a new pic
  11. Great post! I make the joke all the time that we have a baby dinosuar in the house now
  12. So cute! Thank you for sharing! I cant imagine takign care of two at once. Greyt job!
  13. We have jsut made a final decision on a name. The baby will be Cosmo
  14. Thanks Judy You cant see it in the pic but there is a huge fluffy blanket folded over 4 times under the newspaper there
  15. Just an Update. Baby is 6.5 weeks now and doing greyt! Just starting to nibble on softened pellets and veggies. Growing fast, lots of new feathers. Baby is now moved into the cage full time and getting pretty good at climbing and perching. Baby has a favorite toy now and will play with it and talk to it for long periods of time. Heres a pic of the baby and the toy(hanging on the right)
  16. No, unfortunately I havent managed to find a gram scale yet. But there is no question the baby gets heavier by the day! It spends an hour or two each day in my arms so I have a pretty good feel for its weight =P
  17. Thanks for the input! I'll contine to offer these things to the baby. And once it begins eating them I"ll make sure it has as much as it wants of them And yea, very big feet and frame. It has the same feathering and look of other 6 weeks I've seen, but looks to have the frame of a 7 or 8 week old. Thats why I began offering weening foods a little sooner. Baby seems like it wants to grow big!
  18. Thank you for the post At what age should this begin? I know at younger ages the fear of overfeeding and stretching the crop is there. My baby is 6 weeks and I have begun offering softened pellets, fruits, veggies and millet in between feedings but it really hasnt taken to them yet other than the occasional nibble. It really does does beg for more food, but its already taking 50cc of formula per feeding and I am wary of giving it anymore food at once and doing harm. I have even pondered adding a little fruit, veggie or mashed pellets to its formula to help develop its taste for them. I have a feeling my Grey is going to be...large
  19. The baby isnt sleeping or staying in the cage unsupervised yet. We still use a large plastic bin for that. We only put it in the cage when we are there to keep an eye on it for now.
  20. ok, I removed the dragonwood perch and moved the other as low as it would go. The baby does seem to like it better as its new game is to keep climbing back and forth over it
  21. The two perches I have in the cage are very very low. One is a smooth wood one and is at the birds belly level. The other is a dragonwood perch and I put it at about beak level(without the bird stretching). I figured that would be low enoguh for the bird to grab around on and get a feel for them without risking a seriosu fall. I even made a point of putting no toys or dishes in the cage above this level so the baby isnt drawn to explore anything up high.
  22. New cage came in yesterday. Got that all setup and introduced the baby to it. Baby proceeded to climb right up the inside of it  We have a piece of cardboard covering the grate, a thick blanket folded over that then topped off with many layers of newspaper. It is pretty padded, but I'm not sure I feel comfortable with the baby in it just yet. Baby was in its glory though Running all over the place and chewing on the two perches I put in it (at belly and head level).
  23. Awww so cute! The size difference kinda does resemble the twins (Arnold and Davito) lol!
