  1. She's just playing. Think of yourself aged 3. Did you want to just sit still and quiet or did you want to run riot and scream your head off?

    what a place

I may be being a little cynical here but when they say they don't rehome parrots except where the parrot has "Special needs", are they saying that it is a problem bird and they don't want to spend time and money looking after it? Are they also saying that having a problem bird may affect the turnstile? Are they also saying that, "If we re-homed all the birds, we wouldn't have any for people to pay £4.60 to come and see?
  3. Hi My name is Steve and I am a Cagaholic..... My Geordie is just gone 4 years old and she amazes me nearly every day. The thing that gets me most is how she does and says things IN CONTEXT. For an example, do you remember the Antonio Banderas version of Zorro? Well, in the film, Zorro is supposed to jump off a roof onto his horse but the horse moves and Zorro falls on his rear end. OK, not mind-bogglingly funny but worth a smile. Not for Geordie, she lets our a really loud laugh like the Laughing Policeman record. (did I mention we are so soft that we move her cage in the evening so she can watch TV?) Maybe coincedence but that sort of thing happens all the time. I live in the industrial North of England and parrots are not very common here but everyone around knows Geordie. She goes everywhere with me.... Supermarket, Post Office, Bingo, walks in the park, driving (she sits on the passenger head rest with a towel under her rear end, lol) She has always been MY bird as opposed to my wife's but my wife can get more kisses than me at the dinner table 'cos she has more Fries than me. Agnes always blows on a fry before geordie gets it to cool it down and there's nothing funnier than watching geordie, fry in hand, making blowing noises at the fry. Geordie has always interacted well with strangers, especially kids, and it's good to see Geordie wandering from kid to kid saying "Hello,I'm Geordie, Who are you?" The best though is if you say, "Geordie dance" and she whistles and dances to the tune of "The Stripper" Here's her ebay page....
  4. No offence intended but should I put her in a glass case? She can't go walkies on the floor in case she gets some carpet fibres in her stomach. She can't fly around in case she bangs into windows. She can't have her wings clipped in case she falls off her cage. She can't meet people in case they have held a bird with a virus. She can't go to the vets in case there is another parrot in the waiting room. She can't fly outside in case she picks up a mite Not much of a life for my pal is it?
  5. I stand corrected. No more coffee for Geordie but apple juice sounds like a good idea. Am I worried about her going to other people? No, My kids (grown now) were more valuable to me than a parrot but they went to school, swimming etc and I didn't worry about the physical condition of their friends.
  6. Hi Guys, Can I just throw my 2 cents worth in? My CAG, Geordie (see the thread about "Who has the best parrot") is nearly 5 years old and she gets cranky if she doesn't get her coffee. You guys are saying that coffee is bad for Greys but to what extent? Bear in mind I don't mean Geordie has 20 cups a day, just the odd dip into mine. Admittedly, it makes the next toilet trip a bit runnier than normal but is that a problem? Isn't it a trade off with letting the parrot know she is sharing something of yours? BTW, we have had her for all her life and she is probably the best behaved bird I have ever seen. She goes everywhere with me, shops, Post Office, Bingo, even to the Car Boot sales (That's what we in England call Flea Markets) and although she is devoted to me, she will "Step Up" to anyone, male or female, adult or child, with not an ounce of hesitation. One last thing. If ever my wife and I have to go out together and leave Geordie at home on her own, we leave the TV playing the Cartoon Network and she has learned a lot of the theme tunes but her favourite cry is "WILMAAAAAAAAAAAA", lol
  7. This is my ebay page (no plugs on there for my auctions)
  8. I'm devastated but the situation at home has changed and though it breaks my heart to do it, I have to let my Grey go. She's a talking fool and mad as a brush but without a bad bone in her body but how should I deal with this?.... I can... a/ Give her away to somebody who knows what owning a parrot means. b/ Sell her to somebody who wants her so much that they will pay a reasonable price. There are down sides to both options. First of all, the money itself isn't important. It's just a form of proof that there is going to be a commitment to the bird. I could just as easily give her away but how do I prove to myself that the person involved isn't just acting on a whim? I only have about 2 weeks to sort this out so time is at a premium. Can anyone offer any other suggestions?
