  1. I'm not sure if anyone has already added this link or not but i saw a site that has a lot of DIY toy ideas http://www.cheepparrottoysntips.com/toyindex.html#atomsboings Not just the atom but that takes u to the page
  2. This is Oscar's cage so far..we don't have him yet but decorated it for fun. NOTE: we know that when he comes home all those toys will not be in the cage, they will each be introduced to him one at a time separately every few days or so. We don't want to overwhelm him with the new environment and toys all at once.

    Towels

I've heard that most times when greys go to the vet they sometimes need to be wrapped in a towel, for whatever reason, and it can be extremely stressful for them and hard for the parront to watch. We've ben trying to get him used to be wrapped up and playing with a towel in hopes that it wont be too stressful for him during his vet visits, he seems to be doing well and doesn't freak out when this happens. Does anyone have any opinions/advice on this?
  4. We also bought Oscar the aviator harness, it isn't a problem to put on him, and he doesn't seem to mind it once it is on him. I find it's a bit more difficult to take it off...We are trying to get him accustomed to it early so it is not a problem later on.
  5. In all honesty we went to the store one day and were told he had flown and they had clipped him, I guess because it's a store and they didn't want him flying around and then we were also told it was to help to tell the difference between the two Greys, try are currently in the same cage..which I don't necessarily agree with but I assume he will be moved when he gets a bit older. I can tell you we will be letting his feathers grow back and letting him fly. With the toys, all the ones in his cage he is fine with he's had them for a few weeks, but we don't want him to become phobic so we bring him a different toy from home everday so he can get accustomed to new toys and so when he cones home it isn't so bad with the toys, we don't leave then there though but we introduce them to him, only one a day. Some he loves right away and some it takes time for him to warm up to them. maybe we Are wrong...any suggestions?
  6. What a relief! Thanks
  7. In the past few days Oscar has been picking up his feet and crunching them together. I have no idea if this is a problem, but he doesn't seem to be hurt, he can still perch fine and it is not always the same one he picks up and crunches together....any ideas?
  8. Here is an update on Oscar Oscar
  9. Spinner - I have read that and i know he is too big for one now, but since we cant find anything anyways its just out of the question, and was only really going to be used until he came home. Malikah - the chirpy birds are senegals ....2 Of them acctually..whenever you go into the room they just freak out lol... I have heard of pet nail polish...i think maybe im wrong i didn't even think of that Luvparrots - I think maybe because ours is darker and he plays with toys and is more active maybe thats why they think he's theirs, i don't know theirs just sits there and sqwaks non stop. I was just told one time when we went that the other owners came and were arguing with the manager that he was theirs. I just don't want a mistake to happen and want to nip it in the bud now.
  10. It doesn't sound crazy at all. I can't wait until mine can get into talking and singing ...but thats a long ways away
  11. well i was thinking an open band that you can just pinch together to close...i know they make them i just can't find one...and i really don't want to get one from the hardware store...just seems so sketchy. (since half the people prod wouldn't know if there is zinc or not in it) But it seems I will have no luck, I called the aviary hospital today to ask what my options were and they basically told me that i have none Malikah , you know thats not a terrible idea, maybe we will try something like that Here is a video of the two of them (Oscar is on the left) http://s754.photobucket.com/albums/xx184/aeriga/Oscar%20at%20pet%20store/?action=view&current=IMG_7023.flv
  12. Very helpful thread! here in Canada they cost about $2000 or so.. we got a good deal because there was a baby boom so we got ours for about $1100. we can visit any time we want and the staff is very helpful and friendly. It is about 5 minutes from our house so we are there everyday, even if it's just for a few minutes. He likes to interact with people, but since he's a baby all he wants is food anyways lol. The store has a nursery in a closed room (there is another baby grey in there now too and 2 senegals) with windows so we've opted for our bird to stay in there until we take him home. I have the idea in my head that if he goes on the floor with people poking at him he will end up aggressive.
  13. I'm having an issue with my grey not having a band. We got our from a pet store because it was a really really good price, and there are no breeders around us. The breeder who sold them to the pet store had too many and didn't band them. At the pet store, we visit almost every day even for a few minutes, the owners of the other grey they have there have visited twice in about 2 months. They are convinced our grey is there's. We can tell which is ours, but they can't since they never interact with theirs. We just wanted a way to identify ours easily. But cannot find anyones who sells bands (unless we want to buy about 50+ in bulk). Does anyone have any information on getting a personalized band?
  14. My name is Oscar, I'm about 2 1/2 months old. I'm still at the pet store and can't come home yet. I'm from BC Canada and am now in Ontario. I love to play with pen caps and like to climb my cage. Here's a video of me climbing. http://s754.photobucket.com/albums/xx184/aeriga/Oscar%20at%20pet%20store/?action=view&current=IMG_7013.flv
