1. This is a really great topic. I'm convinced I could spot my greys, my GCCs, my sun conure and my gold capped conure based solely on body language, and we've only been parronts for just over a year (less in some cases). I know their eyes, beaks, behaviors.... but If you were to put my crazy GCC (Rusty) in with 20 other GCCs, how long would it take me to find him? Interesting question... I think I could locate him within a minute.
2. absolutely. I know every inch of our fids. every feather that's being moulted, every cherry juice-stained foot, every broken feather. Also, I could spot them by their behavior. Who fluffs up and when, head bobs, all that good stuff: body language.
3. Is there a day that goes by that your fid doesn't do something like that, though? Every day is a great day to be a parront
4. Our Cleo, preserving her dignity... or maybe not so much:
5. Our fids LOVE peanuts and peanut butter. But we found that there is a danger of a toxin that can cause a respiratory infection. We did some research after finding out some scary stuff... this is what we found: http://greyttimes.com/?p=193 Hope the M&M's (Merlin & Maddox) research is good info!
6. Isn't that the best feeling!!? Gratz on your promotion
7. Ours go to bed just after sundown and are up at the crack of dawn. Our greys are in a large indoor aviary (7 ft tall x 5 ft diameter) so covering the whole cage isn't feasible but we do put a blanket over it to cover the top portion and keep the heat in. We have a very large great room and it would be impossible to block all the light. Pics below. Grey's cage: Everyone else (and the Petco box is a temporary fix to keep Cleo from playing in the light fixture! lol):
8. Thanks for the kind welcome, and the kind words about the fids' website Yup, all those birds own us lol. :woohoo:
9. A TIMGO is a crossbreed between a Congo and a Timneh grey. Cleo was purchased (read: rescued) from a chain pet store. Here's a shot of her beak at 10 months old (her tail feathers are classic Timneh):

Post edited by: Lambert58, at: 2010/01/09 02:04
