I was looking at my stats and noticed a couple of you came from here. My goal is also to post to forums, like vbulletin to the lost and found sections and it will be synced with parrotalert.com automatically. If the owner could contact me via PM to discuss this more, i'd appreciate it as it helps the birds if we can network efficiently.

Up & coming site for lost birds - Global!
parrotalert replied to Joolesgreyuk's topic in Lost & Found Bird Room
Char wrote: I understand your concern. While this project is in development, parrotalert has the chance to build up a healthy support network. It would be pointless turning the site on, then for people to start reporting lost/stolen parrots then to discover the site has no members to help with their plight. We have no intention to sell the list of addresses, the chances are, if you are already getting spam, then your address is already being sold as part of a global list. In Summary, the sign up process (already completed in development), asks for you least amount of information required to be effective. * username and password for logging in. * email address for alert notifications. * a geographical point of reference, in other words the nearest point to where you reside on a map. It doesn't have to be your house, postcode, nearest street, even town. The information will never be disclosed to any other member. Reporting lost and stolen parrots has already been completed, similar process as above, but providing more relevant information with regards to the parrot reported. Then, if you are within the radius of n miles, you'll receive an e-mail notification once a missing parrot is reported. There are more features, searching lost/found and stolen, reporting found parrots, etc. Also, were are looking at pushing alerts out to forums lost and found pages directly and social networking sites like twitter: http://twitter.com/parrotalert We will be going live with UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, New Zealand and Australia initially, then we'll take it from there. We are hopping by the end of Q1 2010. I hope this clarifies this more for you. parrotalert.

Post edited by: parrotalert, at: 2009/10/29 03:15 -
Up & coming site for lost birds - Global!
parrotalert replied to Joolesgreyuk's topic in Lost & Found Bird Room
Thank you for taking interest in parrotalert.com. The site will initially go live in the UK, followed almost stright away by the US, then seeing how that goes, the rest of the world (map technology permitting). The site will be using geographical mapping technology, in order to pin-point a lost bird and identify nearest eyes for the sky (watch agents). Being a bird owner myself, i've noticed the lack of a real definitive site to handle this. It's under development at the moment. If you register your interest, you'll be notified when it goes live. Would it be possible for you to add parrotalert.com to your links page under lost and found section? In exchange i'll add a links page to support those supporting parrotalert.com parrotalert

Post edited by: parrotalert, at: 2009/08/13 23:02
