Grats on the new baby. My new baby also has quite a few of red feathers on his legs, under his wings, and even a couple on his back. He may lose them when he molts but I kinda hope they stay. :cheer: Can't wait to see pics of your baby.
My CAG used to open his wings and hold them high when I said pretty bird. I taught him this by flapping my arms and holding them in the air. It looked beautiful and he seemed to enjoy showing off.
Thank you. He is such a doll. He likes to snuggle close after he eats. He either climbs under the covers or tucks his head under my arm so I will cover his body with my hand. I know he wont stay so cuddly but it would be nice. I'm going to enjoy these days as much as I can.
Our new TAG arrived yesterday. He/She is doing wonderful. I have been thinking of calling him Frankie since that can be a girl or boy name. My son really likes the name Slate. Needless to say the baby doesn't have a name yet. I will try and attach a pic
The cage was large for a conure, but I do plan on getting a new one. The breeder suggested using a transition cage in the beginning.
Thanks for the advice. I am gonna toss the toys. The cage has soaked in bleach twice and I scrubbed the heck out of it. I may do it again for good measure.
I had a baby CAG about 18 years ago. I was still quite young and moving around alot so he was adopted into a good stable home. Now that I am old and settled I decided it was time to fulfill my AG dream. We had a Conure last year that died suddenly. I left another post about that.
Yes all of my dogs are inside. I am a dog trainer. My german shep is trained in search and rescue. I have alot of experience with clicker training dogs and I can't wait to try it with our new baby!
Don't worry lots of pictures will be coming your way when the new one arrives.
About a year ago we adopted a Conure. We had her for about 6 weeks and she died. She didnt appear to be sick. We woke up one morning and she was on the bottom of the cage. Now I am bringing home an 8 week old TAG on Fri. I have cleaned the cage we had for the Conure well with bleach, but I am worried about the wooden perches and old toys since I dont know what the other bird might have had. Can old wooden toys and perches be safely disinfected?
Just thought I would say hello. I live in Pennsylvania with 4 dogs, 4 finches, and Fri I will have an 8 week old TAG!!! I am so excited.
I have enjoyed reading the posts on this forum and look forward to being a part of your community.
