1. Gracie is now 6.5 months old. Her hatch date was 4/18/09. This morning she weighed in at 310 grams. She doesn't eat much out of her fresh food bowl. She seems to eat more out of her pellet bowl. She will eat sunflower seeds and other nuts. She still wants a nightly feeding of formula before cuddle/bed time. She is pooping normal. no changes there. She plays with her toys. She loves to rip paper. She is starting to find her voice making baby sounds. Gracie was hatched in NY by a family friend registered breeder, then went to my fathers house for 7 days until she was shipped to me. She went to my dads at the end of July weaned, but regressed so he fed her formula. He is also a breeder. I did that as well when she arrived here. Today while shopping at the local pet store, called incredible pets, there was a female CAG. I had to pick her up. She felt so much heavier than Gracie. I asked the bird guy, who is very well informed about birds, how much she weighed. He took her into the nursery and she weighed 375 grams. My question is, should Gracie be weighing more? She will fluctuate in weight from 300-325. Is she not gaining because I still give her the nightly formula? Should I try feeding her something to get more weight on her? Maybe I am just being over concerned?
2. Gracie is doing well. Last Friday, she went bowling with me and a bunch of friends from work. She was a hit! She did very well. The noise did not bother her. She seemed to enjoy having lots of people come say hello to her. She is also starting to make noises other than the growl. I think she will start talking soon. She still enjoys her nightly feeding and cuddle time. Her hatch date was 4/18/09 and she is weighing from 310-325 on her daily weigh in's. Too cold to take her to breakfast today. It is only 48 degrees here in Florida this morning! BRRRRRRR Have a greyt day!
3. Just thought I would share this with you. Gracie is now 5 1/2 months old. Hatch date 4/18/09. Home coming date 8/1/09.
4. Gracie is now 5 months and 10 days old. She weighed 310 grams this morning. She is eating all kinds of fruits and vegetables along with her pellets and a few seeds. She is still taking a night hand feeding of 20-30 cc. After that she loves to snuggle on my chest for a while then to bed. She is starting to forage in her cage. I have a couple of foraging toys for her. She loves to shread paper. She has gone on several outings with me in her bird packpack (adventure pack)and really seems to enjoy it. She has learned to step up, step down, and turn around on command. We are now working on putting bird coins in a box. She seems to prefer the red ones. With a little encouragement, she will lie on her back while on my lap for a short time. She will let me touch her all over her cute little self even under her wings. Today she was making the CUTEST baby sounds. She would make a sound I would say something to her and she would seem to try and answer. Just sounds, like baby babble. She is doing well in the shower. She gets totally soaked and seems to take it in stride just as my other fids do. My Sun conure is doing better. I moved him away from the others (CAG, YNA, and Tiel) but still in the midst of all the house action. He is near the fish tank and loves it when I feed the fish. He is much more calm and more like himself now that I have moved him. She also loves to sit outside as you can see in the picture. Have a greyt day Annie PS...Just a fun note. I work in a medical office. A patient came in with a service Monkey. It was a Capuchun monkey. I got to hold it. It was like holding a real baby. It was AWSOME!
5. My CAG Gracie is also 5 months and is taking about 20 cc every night. I talked with the vet and he said that it was ok. She will let me know when she is done.
6. I wish i could upload more than one pic at a time!
7. tree gym made with backyard branch and christmas tree stand.
8. Gracie has been home for just over a month now. She has not wanted formula for 2 days now. I am watching her weight closely. She is eating well on pellets, fruit, and veges. She remains a cuddle bug. No words yet but lots of baby sounds. My Sun conure is doing better since I moved him to a different area where he can not see the flock. He can still see me. A dramatic decrease in the screaming. All is well on the Florida homefront!

Post edited by: orphan1965, at: 2009/09/07 21:41
9. I changed Gracie to the Zupreem Embrace and oh what a difference. In 3 days she has already put a little weight back on (5 grams) and is almost back up to where she was when she came home. She is also eating more at each feeding. She was only taking about 10 cc and now is taking almost 20 twice a day. I am still worried about my sun conure. He wont let me come near him. Runs and hides. I have tried to spend a little time with him but he will have nothing to do with that. he is eating ok I just think he is really upset about Gracie right now.
10. I am using Kaytee Exact hand feeding formula. The pellets are the ones that look like little pieces of fruit, as she prefers those to the other ones that are greyish in color. Sorry I cant remember the names of the pellets....She likes sunflower seed but i dont give her many of those as I dont want to create a seed junkie. She also likes almonds and walnuts. She likes peanut butter but hates getting it on her beak.

Gracie

Well Gracie is now almost 17 weeks old. She was hatched April 18th. I have had her home now for 3 weeks. She now weighs 300 grams The first week or so she was taking hand feeding of about 15 cc of formula twice a day. Now she is taking less than 10cc twice a day. She has pellets and fresh veges/fruits available. She has been munching on them. She was fully weaned when she left the breeder but regressed. She plays a little on her cage and with the toys. She likes to rip paper. She loves to snuggle on me. she likes to be wrapped in a blankie and be next to me. She has had a few showers and doesn't seem to mind them even with the other fids in with us. This morning she was really making some baby noises. She really lets me know when she doesnt like something like setting her down as she squaks loudly in disgust. She shakes her head alot. Absolutly hates her beak to be dirty. She preens but not overly. She seems to be sleeping well. I cover her at night. My Sun conure seems to be pretty upset about everything today. Wont let me hold him or come near him. My Yellow Nape is acting more cuddly but otherwise has not changed. So.....does all of this seem to be the norm? Should she be weighing more? Should I cut a hand feeding? Is it a security thing for her or for me? Thanks
12. Just an update on Gracie. She has been home for a week now. She is adjusting well. She is now 16 weeks. She is still hand feeding twice a day. She regressed a little after the transition. She is eating pretty well on fruits, veges, and other bird safe things. She has not refused any food I have given her. She has nibbled on everything. She loves sunflower seeds. I think I will save those for training. She is learning to step up and down and also working on turn around. She has done well in the shower. She seems a little unsure of her footing and will make noises if she seems a little fearful. The other Fids are adjusting well. Sun Conure has figured out the hand feeding routine and insists on joining in. Gracie loves to cuddle in a blankie after evening feeding. She is not afraid of a towel at all. She is slowly starting to play with her toys. She seems to like the plastic lids and other small things I give her in a toy box. She is sleeping well. We have been on 3 outings and she loves going in her adventure pack. Doesn't seem to mind everyone looking in on her. No words just baby noises. I have totally fallen in love with her!

Post edited by: orphan1965, at: 2009/08/09 21:41
13. I went to breakfast with momma and grandma.
14. Gracie is now snuggling into a blanket trying so very hard not to fall asleep! She is not afraid at all of the blanket. She seems quite comfortable and content to be there!
15. She is already nibbling on food and drinking water.
