casper & luvparrots..aw, thank you! I think I am going to have to buy a macaw's cage...lol!!! At times I feel there is no need for a dna boy..boy..boy lol Tyco's mom..speaking of a macaw's cage...wow!! That does sound huge! what size is it?? To fit 8 perches no less??? lol! your a riot! Alex is in a tempoary cage I have his cage on back order. It's a new style and color and they are totally out of stock. I was so mad! I ordered it when we first put a deposit on him, and it's still not in..so I have to buy a cage for him to be able to come home. I will use it as a sleeping cage if I find a place to fit it... if not, I have no clue what I will do with it..it really was a waste of money to have to buy two cages. I called today and she told me it shouldn't be too much longer... this is it and thought this was big http://www.kingscages.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductID=137 Raposa yes, I was taken by surprise for sure. I should have known better to talk to him about it..but stupid me!! We are all so happy he is finally home and love him very much! Ann Marie

Joolesgreyuk..aw, thank you, how sweet! He is big, isn't he?? lol! His flight feathers are clipped underneath. You can only see it when you pull his wing out. The only good thing is they will grow back thanks so much again! Ann Marie

That is too funny..I am laughing because when we were visiting Alex in the store and holding him, people actually came up to us and asked if he was a pigeon..I must of looked at them stunned ..lol! The macaw got me..lol!!!!! Ann Marie

Thank You Caitlin!! your birds are beautiful also! I love when they are babies and their eyes are dark Ecko's cage is great! Love the swing you made.. you are talented..I saw your things on the home made toys page.. they are fantastic!!! I bought a lot of things for him, but only put in a few for now until he learns how to get around with out falling. I have to leave him alone so he will learn and stop running to rescue him each time , kills me because I am so worrid he will get really hurt. I guess we have all been through this I have the perch that came with the cage all the way at the bottom and toys . The natural tree perch is half way up. I have a sand perch also, but I am not putting it in yet. Thanks for showing me Ecko's cage, you did a great job..lucky guy Natasha, aw, thank you too!! Your birds are just beautiful also.. I love the key foot toys, are they baby keys?? I need to get Alex some, they seem to really like them. You can go crazy buying them things Ann Marie

thanks again!! He is a sweet baby! here are a few more pictures of him isn't he big?? I want to have him dna'd, but by the looks of him, I really think he's a male..unless a very large female..lol he is doing well. The only thing is he climbs up, does not know how to get down. We have to re-do the cage some how. I want to get the branch perch that goes from side to side..not easy to find unless I get one bigger and cut it down some how?? I need cage decorating ideas.. so if any of you have pictures of your cages, I would love to see them! Thanks! Ann Marie

Caitlin..thank you!! Everyone here experienced bringing the baby home. We are all very happy, he really is a sweet little guy! cflanny..Thank you too! How old is ZZero? (adorable name) Alex is 12 weeks. I do have a higher perch, he gets up, but seems he does not know how to get down..?? I guess it will all happen soon when he is ready..can't wait because I am always checking on him making sure he is ok Ann Marie

aw how sad is that Pat! I am happy she is no longer clipped and her balance is good. Maybe one day, she will fly?? Hope so! Alex is so clumsy , I get so worried! The first day he climbed to the top of the cage and didn’t know what to do, so he let go and came straight down, I almost had a heart attack. Thank goodness he was alright! his balance is ok, not perfect. I am not sure if it’s because he is still so young, or his wings being clipped..?? I have his perch at the bottom of the cage for now...I do not know how long I should keep it there?? Maybe move it up a little each week?? I guess in baby steps. Do you know about the age where they get the climbing and perching down pat? Thanks! Ann Marie

He is home and doing great I can't get over how beautiful he is It has been such a long day, all the excitement knocked me out Alex is perched! He is not high up. he is toward the bottom for now. I do have a towel under him (great advice!) He did explore and climbed to the top, then fell down , I couldn't believe it. Thank goodness he did not get hurt, I think we were up set more than he was . He did not try it again..has this ever happened with your grey? We bought Harrison's for his pellet and boy does he love it! I was glad to see he has a healthy appetite. I will put his new pictures up tomorrow, haven't down loaded them yet. Thanks again good night! Ann Marie

Casper yes, we are going shortly. He is from a bird shop. Not a "pet store" it is very reputable and has been there over 30 years. The owner does a lot of his own breeding. Last week we went to visit. He told us he was weaned and we can take him home. I had so much more to do to get ready, so I told him "next weekend" meaning this weekend. Then we went back a second time and saw his wings were clipped. I guess he clips them all before they go home. I had no idea. I doubt very much he is fledged. So sad!!!!! I have been up set all week from what he did. I feel so bad for Alex. Nothing I can do now. I just hope he is ok and will have some balance. keep your fingers crossed! ok...I will bb later when we get home....Thanks again. Ann Marie

She & Casper..Thank you both! Alex is 12-13 weeks now. I am very annoyed because the owner clipped his wings last week with out us knowing until we got there. I am sure he will not have good balance , even if he is perched, so I was concerned. I will buy the lock crocks.. a blanket or towel..great idea!!!! I keep it right on the bottom of the cage? On the grates? Thanks again! Ann Marie

Alex is coming home today..I do have a question. I am not sure if he is fully perched, so I am keeping a perch very low to the bottom for him, and one higher buy the built in food bowls. Do I keep food & water bowls on the bottom of the cage as well? What kind so they do not tip over? or do I get crocks and screw it into the sides very low? Thanks! Ann Marie

thanks Dan! another correction.."his" grey..lol

Thanks Dan! That was cute... my son is so attached to Alex, he could sleep there..it's a wonderful thing for him... I knew from the beginning it would be this way.. I have to say my son has a natural way with birds..it totally amazes me. Alex is from a bird store..the owner does his own breedings most of the time. He has many different species there and he loves them all. He helps people handle birds when we are there and many of them ask if he works there. The owner told him when he was old enough, he has a job! This is exactly why I wanted my own bird, one I will not let him near..lol! ann marie
