  1. I want to know who thought it was a cool idea to teach Cleo the first few lines of the A-Team song! It gets repeated for hours on end, ad nauseam. It often starts as early as 6am and goes on for hours lol. Oh the person that taught her that was me *sigh* You guys talk to me first when I decide I have another "good" idea please!

    Rhyme Time

Cleo does not want to go into her cage At times it makes her fly into a rage. I have to tell her she's so sweet then bribe her with a tasty treat. New word: seed
  3. Ok so I forgot to add some text there. The first one is of a little fox that showed its face at the camping where I spent a few days. The bottom one was taken at a breeder, who had literally hundreds of birds of all sorts, cockatoos of all kinds, amazons, greys, macaws of all colours and sizes, plus loads more. I'll have a look for some more photos later = )
  4. Beautiful! I have 2 of the birds shown at 0.40, a rainbow lorikeet. Those birds are as cheeky as they are colourful.
  5. I feel exactly like what Jingles said. My blood ran cold when I read your message Spock. Why is this the last update?
  6. Wow what a tear jerker! Bless you for taking such good care of this little soul, for giving her so much love and accepting her even with her disability.
  7. Got back today from my 3 week holiday in the Netherlands. Had a wonderful time, but it's good to be back home. The dog was beside herself with joy, and couldn't stop licking and sniffing me for a good hour. Cleo was also very pleased to see me again, in her usual reserved manner, but she's singing her little heart out and attacking a new toy I got her. She went completely nuts with her boing when I let her out. The keets were very excited to see me too and promptly started humping another, and are shredding the newspaper on the bottom of their cage with joy. I didn't realise how much I had missed all the whistles and squawks from my little friends!
  8. Obviously the most satisfying part of the game is biffing the discs across the room. Very cute!

    help!

First of all, DO NOT grab the bird. This will only instill fear and mistrust into her, damaging the relationship you have with your bird. Secondly, is she really biting, or grabbing hold of you to try and support herself when changing position? Birds do use their beaks like a hand, pulling themselves up by it, and using it for balance and support when climbing onto something. You can try coaxing her out of the cage using a stick or a perch instead of your hand to step up on. You can also try encouraging her to step up with a treat, or you can leave the cage door open and see if she will come out by herself.
  10. One reason I never gave a stuffed toy to my birdies is because I have serious doubts about the safety of the stuffing. God knows what diseases and fungi reside in there. Most of these toys are made in China, and I have concerns about quality control over the materials used.
  11. Lovely photos! That's one very alert bird posing for pics. I've a question about the beak though, and it's been on my mind for some time. Cleo's beak is about the same length as Rikki's here, and I am wonder if it is too long?
  12. Oh oh I'm with Mani! How can an octopus of all things be right in these things? I mean, it's an octopus! Birds are much smarter when it comes to these things I'm sure! http://online.wsj.com/video/parrot-picks-holland-to-win-world-cup/E978F824-1D97-4A57-8F36-460E7DEE2684.html
  13. Eco, you have just been through major trauma, and have experienced many losses on many levels, and I think you need to spend time on rebuilding your new life. Rebuilding it solidly, not putting a patch on things by trying to plug the emptiness and loneliness you feel. These feelings are entirely normal, and it sure sounds like you realise that, from what you have said. Don't forget though, this too shall pass, these feelings will not remain forever. Be strong, be fair to yourself, be fair to your bird, face your problems head on, which I know you can do because you have already made it this far. When you have healed, you can re-examine wanting to get another bird, but for now I think the focus should be on you and your feathered friend. (Excuse the psychobabble, 10 years as a mental health nurse lol).
  14. A fig is an exotic fruit, native to the hotter countries around the mediterranean and further east. Can't say I've ever come across a fresh one, but the dried ones look like giant dead bugs heehee.
  15. Yeah pfff it's aired here in NZ Monday morning at 6.30am, so I'll be dragging my sorry behind from my warm little nest heehee.
  16. And there it is.....Netherlands - Spain. I'm really not convinced the Dutch will be good enough = (
  17. GO ORANGE WHOOOOOOOO!!!! (People have noticed that when it suits, I am suddenly Dutch again, and when it doesn't I claim to be a Kiwi! )
  18. Yes you can tell by the look on his face he takes his position very seriously.
  19. That's so cute it ought to be illegal!!!
  20. Black cherries are great too for that Texas Chainsaw Massacre effect.
  21. Awesome! Look at her pupils flashing with excitement!
  22. Those coloured plastic ties you have there Tanya would not last 5 minutes in Cleo's cage lol.
  23. http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/matches/index.html Here ya go = )
  24. Well luv, it's quite simple. If my babies can't go, I won't go, no matter who is waiting for me in Amsterdam
