This is a shot of a solar flare I took in the summer. These are very unpredictable and it is pure luck to get one, they can last for minutes or hours sometimes you can observe it from Burst to Finnish, this one is a few million miles long and lasted for a few hours. They can upset the satellite communication around Earth. The Earths magnetosphere protects us from the solar winds created by solar flares.
