Thanks, gals. I think that Selini is a late bloomer. She'll be beautiful like her mom (Himalayan) when she grows up a bit and gets through her first molt! <br><br>Post edited by: HappyinGreece, at: 2009/06/16 09:38

Thanks Caitb! When I got home from work today they were both sleeping on the couch like this. SOOO CUTE!

It took me a while but I finally managed to take some new pics (not the best, but whatever).... This is Seleni and Simba when they first came home to us 1 month ago: Here they are today, twice their size and feeling at home! Selini preening Seleni and Simba zonked out on the couch a few minutes later (it's getting hot in Athens!) Close up of Simba by boy Hope you enjoyed my photos. Still waiting for the TAG egg to hatch - should be this week!!!! Post edited by: HappyinGreece, at: 2009/06/15 13:22<br><br>Post edited by: HappyinGreece, at: 2009/06/15 13:26

I haven't been keeping up lately with the news. A belated congratulations to you Dan, Jake is a lucky bird to be loved by you. {Love-000200C5}

I wanted to let you all know that I got my harness and Bird Sitter DVD in the mail today. Steve was sending it to the wrong house number (which was actually my own fault :blush: ). He sent the package to me twice with the wrong address (it kept being returned to him) and this time when he sent it to the right address I got it in a week. I felt bad but he wouldn't accept my offer to help pay for the postage. Needless to say I highly recommend this wonderful man. Anyone else would have told me where to stick my package by now....:ohmy: The aviator harness looks like day and night next to the feather tether harness which I have. No more nasty buckles!! Of course I'll have to wait a few months before I can try it out.... boohoo I don't know if any of you have seen this bird sitter video but it's really nice. My two kittens enjoyed it too. My daughter and I were explaining to them how one of these parrots will be bossing them around pretty soon... LOL

Bravo!!!!! That was great - especially the ice cube sound!!!!! Whoopee!!!!!!! :woohoo:

Bikermol wrote: HA HA HA green thing!! LOL poor little green thing... Anyhow, yeah I know, I always think of getting pets in pairs for their own company. I'm waiting for a TAG egg to hatch and my breeder has 3 more eggs from another pair but he's leaving those with the birds because he wants to use them for breeding too. So there goes my chance to get a pair... Anyhow that's why I'm thinking about other alternatives too. I've been reading about pionus (the blue headed are so pretty)and the severe macaw, hahns and noble macaws. Can these macaws live in an apartment (are they too noisy?) About the campervan - my husband and I just placed a used trailer on our property in the country and I was wondering how the parrots do inside one of those. There's not a whole lot of space. My trailer is 5 1/2 meters long. I want to eventually build an aviary there so that they can be outside but it will have to be very well designed so that the local wildlife won't have a parrot party. (feral cats, snakes, lizards, foxes, and various hawks) Is chicken wire safe (metal toxicity) and strong enough for parrots if I use it in 2 layers? Probably not, right?

The relationships below are interesting and informative. Are there other experiences members could share regarding whether greys and amazons get along? Reason I'm asking is that in case my TAG egg doesn't hatch I want to get a different parrot considering (poicephalus or amazons) and then get a grey next time around.... See, I just don't want to wait another year to get a bird!!! I miss Alex.<br><br>Post edited by: HappyinGreece, at: 2009/05/30 14:22

SchroedersJen wrote: Jen, can you leave the two together unsupervised? I have read that if you are going to have multiple parrots, it's best to stick to the same continent, i.e like your two are both from Africa so they should get along more easily than, say, a grey and an S. American parrot. How old is Schroeder and Buddy? And is Buddy a P Senegalis? The Poicephalus has several species. Does anyone have one of these? * Senegal Parrot, P. senegalus * Meyer's Parrot, P. meyeri * Red-bellied Parrot, P. rufiventris * Brown-headed Parrot, P. cryptoxanthus * Jardine's Parrot, P. gulielmi * Cape Parrot, P. robustus (two of the three subspecies of P. robustus have been proposed by certain taxonomists for separate species, P. fuscicollis, but this is not widely accepted.) * Rüppell's Parrot, P. rueppellii * Yellow-fronted Parrot, P. flavifrons * Niam-niam Parrot, P. crassus Cheers!

Hi. I'm curious to know if any of you have a poicephalus (senegal and family) parrot. If so, which kind is it? How is it's character? (They say there are differences between them) Which kind do you like the best and why? Lastly, how does it get along with your african grey? Cheers!

I'm sorry to hear that, Judy. I lost my siamese cat a year ago. She was 12 years old and had a stroke. Poor thing. I miss her too. A year later is it pretty cute to have these little creatures around, though, Snowball actually purrs while he's playing with his toys. It's so funny. Here are new photos: (Penny, when are you going to show us your kitty??) Snowball

Welcome to the Kitten Klub Penny!! Anyone else out there got cats?? Would love to hear how they interact with the parrots. My 2 babies are with me for 1 week now and they are starting to bloom. They wake us up in the morning with their pitter-patter chasing each other all over the house. And there's a fertile TAG egg in the incubator of my chosen breeder..... {Characters-000200D2} hoping.... Selini and Hercules (aka Snowball)

She's adorable - G*d bless her. She really looks like she's smiling at the camera!!! {Feel-good-00020114}

Out of country.... Athens, Greece - in the northern suburbs so I do enjoy a few trees LOL. Can see the Parthenon from my roof. Formerly from Brooklyn, NY!

You are too funny with those babies! They really are walking all over you! Have fun these next two days off, and don't forget to feed your human kids too! What program are you using to frame your photos with?
-
Beautiful. My breeder wrote me an email the other day. He has a fertile TAG egg in the incubator. How long does it take for them to hatch??? And how many days old are the babies in the photo?
-
Time to celebrate!!!!!!!! I'm so so so happy for you Carol! You done your time.....now it's time to celebrate!!! p.s. my breeder wrote me an email today and told me that he's got one TAG egg in the incubator and another 3 eggs still in the nest of the other breeding pair. Think I might have my pair after all????? Now all I need is the MONEY!!!! I'll be watching you closely Carol to see what's in store for me LOL!!!! :silly: Blessings to you and ALL of your little ones!

Thanks guys! We just came back from the vet and they are fine except for the stinky diarrhea.... :sick: but that seems to be common in little kitties. Being taken care of! Caitb2007 wrote: My babygirl Misty is soooo fluffy and soft but she sheds SO bad. I find hair balls floating all over the house and I'm constantly cleaning lol. Your going to have double the hairballs with those cute babies. Yes - the hair - the shedding!!!! I don't miss it. Haven't had to brush my clothes for a year... oh well, the price of pet love!!! :woohoo: [/color] Post edited by: HappyinGreece, at: 2009/05/21 21:15<br><br>Post edited by: HappyinGreece, at: 2009/05/21 21:15

You mean you spray the juice undiluted or you mix it with water?

Judy the money was paid via Paypal a long time ago. They said they did not pay for a tracking number the second time they mailed it....

Next Monday we will be bringing home two kittens (from different litters). The boy has long white fur with some gold markings on his tail and legs. He's half persian and half himalayan. The girl is half burmese, 1/4 persian and 1/4 himalayan. She's going to have the classic siamese markings with long fur. Both have blue eyes! Since we don't have any pets anymore it will really be a welcome addition to the family and my 8 year old daughter can't wait. My husband prefers cats too, and we've always had 1 or 2 around. Meantime I'm still waiting for an egg...... Everyone must have his pet, right?!!!! I'll post some photos of them next week if you're interested! <br><br>Post edited by: HappyinGreece, at: 2009/05/13 13:00

Has anyone shopped from them? the URL is www.theparrotuniversity.com. I purchased an aviator harness and the bird sitter DVD (over $50) back before Alex died and I still haven't received the package. I have a tracking number they gave me and it says that the USPS received a package on March 18. I have been in contact with them and they said they sent me new package since the other one got lost. That was 2 1/2 weeks ago. I haven't received that either, and there's no tracking code to go with it. This is the first time I have not received mail from the USA, normally everything arrives just fine. Is it possible for both packages to get lost? If you have any experience with them, I'd like to know if it was positive or not. Thanks!
