Harley hasn`t got all his flight feathers completely in yet, but the little rascal can fly all over the house now and make turns and landings pretty good.
-
Harley averages 390 grams. He was the smallest of the four when I got him. He picked me, so I had to bring him home. He`s healthy and happy and has a really good appetite. I know he`s just a runt, but he`s my boy and I wouldn`t have him any other way.
-
Chimaysmommy, It`s been the same with Harley for the last week.
-
Harley cleans his beak alot on his pumice safety perch. I was wondering if this is alright. His beak is not black anymore but a dark grey. What do ya`ll think?
-
I also got the same samples. Harley loves the Nutri-Berries.
-
Chimaysmommy, I`ve been putting the harness on Harley since the second day I brought him home. He`s not completely comfotable with it yet, but he likes being outside.

Congrat caitb2007 on getting your baby home.

Congrats Gorgass on getting your baby.

Thanks DanMcQ.

Harley will chew on his harness as long as were not walking or doing something. I tell him no, and get his mind off of it and he is fine. He was really good today about getting it on and off as well.

I`ve had Harley a week now. He really hasn`t got used to his harness yet, but he stood still for me to put it on a little bit ago. Here`s a pic.

Well my gut feeling was wrong. Harley is a male. Which is fine by me, but If I was a betting man I would have swore "he" was a "SHE". DNA doesn`t lie I guess. Here`s some pics I took a few minutes ago. Gary

I really appreciate all the replies. I`m just a concerned parront I guess. I just put the harness on her for the first time a little while ago. We went out on the porch and sit in and on the swing awhile. Then we went for a short ride down the dirt roads. We stopped at a neighbors house and one of their cats jumped up on the tool box, in the back of the pickup, and Harley was on my shoulder and she started growling and moved a little closer to daddy. It was funny. She acted like she would give the cat a run for his money. All in all I think she is doing really good. She is back up to her original weight today. Thanks everyone for your advice. I`ve learned alot on this forum and I`m sure I`ll keep learning. Thanks for having me. Gary

I brought my baby home on the 19th. She eats pellets or nuts pretty good. My problem is that she doesn`t seem to care for veggies or oatmeal or any thing of that nature. I`ve tried the raw veggies and steamed and blending. She`ll pick at it anyway that I fix it, but doesn`t seem to care for veggies at all. I`m going to try sweet potatoe today. I cut some sweet corn into pieces yesterday, on the cobb. She played with it more than she ate. She`s really not losing any weight, but she`s not gaining either. Any advice for me would be great. Gary

Thanks again all. She dropped 11 grams from yesterday until this morning. I know I shouldn`t be worried but it still bothers me a little. She is having breakfast now. I know she`ll pick it back up. Gary

Well my first day is over. She is asleep now. She didn`t eat alot, but she did eat some of her pellets and some of her veggies, a nut and a couple of treats samples that Lafaeber sent me. Her wings are clipped but she was allowed to fledge. The breeder clipped them so she can still fly but not very good. Just enough so she doesn`t fall. She has been on her playstand. Checked out her toys, came in the computer room with me. I put her on one of the portable stands I made with a boing hanging from the ceiling over the stand. She likes the boing. She has went to everyone in our home and gave everyone kisses. The only problem I`m having is that if I say very much to her while she is with someone or on one of the stands, she flies to me. She can make it about six feet or so and she has done this tonight 4 or 5 times. I`m so thrilled with her. I put the DNA Kit in the mail, so I`ll know for sure. Her name is officially "HARLEY". I`ll have to go back to work tomorrow at 3:00 pm, but I think she`ll be fine. I`m off all next week, so I`ll be able to spend alot of time with her. Thanks for all the replies. I`ll keep everyone updated. Gary

Here`s a few pics as promised:

Hey all. I`ve just walked in with my baby. She had four and this baby would not go and play. All she wanted was to nibble on my fingers or sit on my hand. The others didn`t pay me any mind so much, but they were loveable when I held them, but my baby was only interested in me. I`ve got a real strong fealing that she is a girl as well as the breeder thinks the same. She has a smaller head than the others and was slightly smaller built. I`ve got the DNA kit ready to go with the feathers. I just weighed her and she weighs 366 grs. It was an 8 hour round trip and she slept most of the way home. She just drank from her water bottle for the first time. She didn`t have one at the breeders, so I`m hoping she is going to be really smart, but it really doesn`t matter, I`m hooked anyway. When I get her out in a couple of hours, I`ll take some pics and post them. Thanks for all the enthusiasm. It makes me feel right at home. Gary PS The closest avian vet is roughly 2 1/2 hors away

Thanks all. I can`t hardly wait.

I`m picking up my baby tomorrow morning. The breeder has five of them and I get to pick or it gets to pick me hopefully. I`m as ready as I`ll ever be, I guess. I`m a little nervous, but ready. I think I`ve got everything I need for now, scales, alovera spray, fruits, vegetables, red palm oil, apple cider vinegar, whole grain pasta, brown rice, toys, toys, and more toys, and the pellets it has been weaned on. I`ve also got a big playstand and a couple of portable perches, so he/she can be with me where ever I`m at in the house. I think I`m ready. Any Suggestions?
-
One of these are mine. I don`t know which, yet.
-
It`s not top heavy at all. The base is pretty heavy. I actually got carried away. I didn`t intend for it to be that tall or big. It`s still over a month before I get my baby. I`m just trying to get ready.

Maybe one of the MODS can move this post for me to where it belongs. Sorry All.

Show me some pics of your homemade playstands. I`ve been looking and they are rather expensive. Do any of you build your own? I still have to add some toys and such but what do ya`ll think? I`ll be getting mine at 16 weeks old if he or she is weaned. I`ve read and watched videos and I think I could handfeed, but I don`t know it for a fact. The breeder I`m getting my baby from, never gave me the option to get it before it is weaned, so I just have to wait with alot of anticipation.
