Bless your heart, I know this is awful for you - don't you go see the vet sometime today? Maybe you can call and be seen sooner?<br><br>Post edited by: pynkzephyr, at: 2009/01/24 05:08

Thanks for letting us know what the vet said. Am so glad you took her again (know that it is $$$) but sounds like what she needed. Sounds like you are on the right path I have not heard of the Rescue Remedy and looked it up - is this supposed to help her to relax and feel less stressed or am I way off base? sounded interesting like something I might want to try here. tks pynk<br><br>Post edited by: pynkzephyr, at: 2009/01/24 00:38 -

Empera I think this is a terrific thing you are doing!! We keep a couple of hens around for the eggs - yard eggs are by far tastier and than store eggs. One thing that came to mind if you had time to fit it in might be to touch on the other things chickens are used for besides being a food source. I live in the South, on the Gulf Coast, and chickens are used as sentinels for mosquito borne diseases that affect humans and livestock. They are also much smarter than people usually give them credit for being - we had one that would jump - not fly - but jump straight up about 2 ft off the ground to take a treat out of our hand. Let us know how your presentation goes, maybe take some pics and share! pynk

I have been following this thread and wondered if anyone has heard anything more about Sarah after her visit with the vet yesterday? -
 i realize I am very new here and perhaps should mind my business BUT that has never been one of my strong points. I run a small message board and have accidentally deleted posts while trying to do something else, or cyberspace has belched and swiped a post or pic or whatever else struck its fancy along the way. I do hope your delete me remark was made in jest  I have been reading like a crazy woman around here and this seems to be one of the friendliest, most laid back and fairly run boards around. pynk

I have to agree with you judygram - very scary thought of putting two in same cage, especially different species.

this is great info! i have a question though - in regard to wing behavior. I have an approx 13 yr old (from band info) CAG that we found about a week ago While we are still looking for his flock, he is settling in here surprisingly well and rapidly (at least I think he is...) He does this 'bat bird' imitation while in the very top of the cage - he hangs from one or two feet, either from the very top of the cage or on the front wall and fans his wings from the shoulders (think of a person with their hands on their hips moving their shoulders back and forth) he sometimes alternates this with hanging from the very top of the cage by one foot and swinging back and forth while craning his head down to look at the floor of the cage. he does not appear to be agitated or upset, feathers not ruffled, not acting fussy or anything BUT if he his trying to tell his dense human (me) something other than he is playing, I wanted to ask if this was normal type behavior? sorry for the rambling post - he and I 'talk' all day and i sometimes forget to get to the point

OMG! the stories behind some of these babies will break your heart - awesome that they have a place to go. -
i use www.tinypic.com to upload mine and copy the code for forums (the IMG code that caitb2007 said ) i like tinypic cause you do not have to register, but photobucket is better if you want to keep your albums online and use them a lot

I am more than a little excited, as you can tell!! We had talked about cages and hubby had seen an 18' x 18' with a play top and did not quite get it at first when i kept telling him it was way too small. so we talked a little more about how we could compromise (i am a fan of bigger is better when housing birds) and he said he would look around for something more medium sized there is a family owned pet store near us and he has done business with them for over 20 years and they were having a sale..... and that is what he brought home! i am so tickled. plenty of room to move and for toys - the top opens up as well which will be great after i move him to 'his room' and don't have to worry about plants (i have a houseful of those too ) and dogs - pynk

   hubby picked up a "little cage" for me to put him in: now for some kool toys and perches and we are set pynk<br><br>Post edited by: pynkzephyr, at: 2009/01/17 19:32

just an update - hubby returned to area where we found the CAG - no sign of anyone even looking for him - i have been checking the newspapers in a a 70ish mile radius and whatever vets etc i could with no results. I will continue to keep an eye out, but in the mean time we have gotten a cage for him so he could move into the house and he fits in like he was always here - he is already amusing himself by whistling for my dogs and watching them run in circles looking for me thanks again to everyone for making us feel so welcome here pynk

sounds like Tango has a ball with them - i have legos and megablocks for the grandkids - i will clean a few and see if they are a hit here too! i have a greencheek conure and one of her perches is concrete - it is the round kind that tapers, but i had not seen any like those in Tango's house - they look like they would be a lot better for a birds feet than what i have now guess who will be hitting the pet store again this week <br><br>Post edited by: pynkzephyr, at: 2009/01/17 05:41

AnnaBella is gorgeous!! you have quite a talent with a camera {Feel-good-000200BB} what type camera/set up are you using here? thanks for clearing up what the "orange peanut" is! to answer you question, i really like ba8, followed closely by ba9 - you can almost see her thinking about what she is doing/about to do and how much fun it will be. ba10 reminds me of a dancer (perhaps a fan dancer of sorts) preparing to perform luv the pic of Sandy too (i have 6 assorted dogs here as well as feather babies)

nice home for Tango - those are kool perches - may I ask what they are made of? lego toys has my attention as well - could you post a pic of your creation when you are finished? tks pz

he's such a ham! he fluffed and ruffled, then twisted and turned, turned his back on me while looking at the ceiling and then stuck his neck waaay out - like, oh are you STILL there?
-
wanted to post a couple more pics of my tree top ham and Sugar the bossy green cheek that runs our household (at least in HER mind she does!) - if she is bored, she will call out like she does when hubby pulls in the drive after work - just to make the dogs bark and run around like crazy - then she sits back and laughs (heh-heh-heh) while bobbing up and down, enjoying the conure-chaos!

mornin' yall just a quick follow-up - I heard back from "Albus'" owner this morning and this is not her baby nor has she found her. Thanks again, LuvParrots, for the lead I did give her the link to the forum, in case she has not been here already - pynk<br><br>Post edited by: pynkzephyr, at: 2009/01/14 17:57

Thank you all so much Luvparrots, I had seen that post on another site for lost birds and had not emailed them since the location the bird was found and lost is over 100 miles - but, thanks for the nudge , I emailed them anyway this afternoon and will let yall know if I hear anything. The longer he stays the more attached I get, but I would want someone helping to return my bird if the situation were reversed. I dimmed the lights and set the radio in his room last night and bedtime and he asked me "where you going?" more than once - he knew it was bedtime and i was going back into the 'big house' for the night - what a sweetie he is!
