  1. both myself and my fiance are away during workhours (9-5) on weekdays, so if it works for your greys then i will give it a shot. I just got back from my parents house where i let him out of his cage for about two hours. My dad let him out last night and when he tried ot put him back he bit him so he had to use the gloves! the radio is a brilliant idea! I will try it and hopefully my baby will be happier this way! thanks for your help, really appreciate it.
  2. i am actually crying right now, i lost my grey a year ago cause of PBFD and was crying like a little child for days. I know the sorrow and my thoughts and prayers are with you. I am very sorry for your loss
  3. hey there! My parrot was munching on a newspaper while i let him out of his cage the other day. I noticed him straight away but he wasn't happy i took it away from him! i'm not sure if he actually ate any or was just ripping it off but i guess newspaper is not good for him. For his cage i am using the pampers they sell for dogs since the size fit. They are a bit expensive since i need one a day but the cage feels and looks cleaner so i like them!
  4. Hi everyone, the last time i wrote in this forum i was very desperate since my late parrot Obi was ill and a couple of days afterwards he died of PBFD. It got me a while to get over him but finally after almost a year i decided to buy another grey. His name is GUGU ad he's about six months old and i've had him for 3 months. We haven't bonded very much since he's a bit tough to bond with but still i am the only person in the house he can trust (and won't bite). However i have moved out a month ago as i got engaged and GUGU is now lonely at my parents house. I visit him once a day and to play with him outside of his cage for about an hour. Even though my parents are trying hard he won't play or speak or eat unless i am there. They cannot let him out since he bits them and if i dont manage to visit for a day he will not eat or speak for an entire day. I do not know what to do. I though about bringing him to my new flat but both my fiance and i are away long hours and i dont want him being left alone all the time. My parents house is always lively as my mom is a housewife and she's always home. He has a lovely big clean cage, lots of toys, the best food available and company all day long. Is he depressed? how can he bond with the rest of my family? will he be happier staying with me and being alone for most of the day? please help!
  5. Dear all, my obi died this morning. Whatever this illness was, it took the life out of his little body within 24 hours. I m so devasteted cause i wasn't awake to hold him while he was dying. i woke up at seven and found him dead. I just hope he knows mama tried... thank you so much for all your help. i hope none of you experienses what i went through today. I keep thinking what more i could do. No heating or blankets or immune booster supplement could help him. He didnt even have a chance to fight... rest in peace baby.
  6. thank you so much everyone, a blood test was done but the vet said that he has to send it to another country and we wont have the results until a few days time. I have called him again an hour ago expressing my doupts of what he said because the symptoms dont fit the illness but he told me that he s sure it s pbdf... I ve cheched the internet and found out that in a case of poisoning there can be leg paralisis and i did buy him a new cage 2 days ago so it all made sense but when i asked him about poisoning he said no way... I ll check the stroke symptoms now... many many thanks to all of you
  7. Hi, i am desperate for help. My 3 month old african grey, Obi, is ill. It all started this morning when i saw that his toes on his left foot were all facing forward and he seemed to have no control of his one side. I took him to the only avian vet in Cyprus and he told me that he has pbfd and that he'll die. I ve searched the internet for symptoms of the disease and found out that he doesn't have the feather symptoms or dhiaria or any of the symtoms described. What he really has is that he is almost paralysed as he now has no control on the right side of his body too. He cant even open his beak and i syringe fed him. He wants to move but he cant... please help me, i need another opinion but there is no other avian vet in the whole island. Please help, i just want to know what's wrong and if there is anything i can do for him...
