2. Thanks all for the suggestionsI guess I would have to just lock him up,if that is only way that I can keep hime safe, and my living room is like bird room they have all toys climing net boings pvc play stand tree to perch(safe wood) suround their cages for three birds,my grey never wonder down from his area unless some type of sound spook him then he flaps down or when he sees me, my grey seeds in the cage with nuts and water, but pallets on top of the cage he goes down to drink water very nerviously take quick drink come right back up he wouldn't go for his seeds but he will eat his pallets, veggies that I hang for them.
3. Hello everyone I was about 4yrs stay home mom, now I am going back to work. I have cango grey M2 and the Sun at home, they play at the play areas next to their cages which I set up for them at living room areas, my M2 and my sun will go in their cage to go to sleep during the night, but my grey would not go in to his cage at all, I have tried few times he gets very scare and temperament,He is now 4yrs of age I had adopt him just about 2 1/2 yrs ago from the rescue, the lady at rescue never had caged him, she had said when they took him in such early age he didn't come with cage. I uaually go out about 2 to 3 hrs every day but leaving them for 8 plus hrs and not caging my grey it scares me very much. does anyone have suggestions
4. thnks for the thought, I too have his cage corner of the the room but his brenches round the window areas he doesn't go in his cage he just pirch himshelf on the play area next to his cage during the daytime my bubby is working and so is my daugher so it is very quite at home and my back window that he likes to look out nothing but wood so there isn't anybody jump out of nowhere. and I had hime for 8 month now he talks he plays I can see his very happy but his nervious
5. 1- he will be 2yrs old next month 2-he only had 1 owner before the rescue. 3-yes he was plucker from very 1st owner 4-he's main diet was seeds, although previous owner tried pellets never succed. 5- yes he was very nervious type of bird, rescue center lady had said that it was the invalment he was in at very young age made him very nervious inscure bird. 6- the first owner bought the bird from the breeder and had the wing clip very short and the owner and none ceritified avian vet trying to get the bird to eat just the pellets no seeds and had lot of other animal around his cage and from what I heard little they had first try the some type of med it didn't help him to calm him or less nervious so the vet had double doesage and at the end tripple, and he was still very nervious plucking feathers they had done full blood test on him as well with all the vet bill going back and forth and she works all day and the bird was almost to bold so she finally gave up to the rescue,at the rescue he had another blood test done for his plucking and they gave him clean bill of health as well when I had transfer all the records from previous owener vet and the rescue vet to my vet. I hope that had answer some of the questions. and yes he is still very much nervious with as well, I have him far side of the livingroom. he doesn't seem to be scare of anything but just really nervious every time he gets nervious he put his toe nail in his mouth and pricks my vet said that it was very nervious,he play lilltle he gets nervious out of no reason, and his feather stress marks all over back in spring he had pull all his tail feather out now that new one started com out has stress mark as well so I was wondering even that I am doing giving him fresh veggies maybe his not getting all vitamins he just nibbles on it little he doesn't eat it all that much and most goes to waste, I can forth him to eat the good stuff all I can do beg him to eat that doesn't work eather
6. Hello everyone. I was wondering if I can get little advace from the experts. I had adopted plucking cag about 8 monthe ago I have work every different ways to help him after vet gave me clean bill of health I mist him often with aloe vera juice from froaging to propert diet, nontheless, I have fail all the aspects I sever him fresh veggie everyday and grind them up fine mix in soft foods, fruits and and I serve him harrison and zupreem. when I first got him he was on all seed base diet, now his doesn't eat seeds at all and nibbles on little bit of pallats evry once a while when I make soft food he nibbles on little that is about it, for awhile he had left his feather alone and most his chest and neck wing feather has grown back but just recently he had started picking again around spring time so I have took hime back to vet again and vet gave me clean bill of health, mean while he is keep picking every time I see a feather that he chew up it give me a chill, and he is not a cage in bird , every morning I hang his veggies on the branches but he doesn't eat it I have ordered organic red palm oil and also the red palm fruits to help him with flucking for some reason if I mix palm oil in the food he will not eat and I think that is the reason he is not eating his seeds I wolud like some advise on type of vitamins to maybe help him or some of you may had try the type of vitamins for plucker if you could give me some type of sugestion it would be wonderful oh one more thing he is very nervious bird and I have been giving hime every day chamomile tea since I had him and the recue center that I had adopted him from had ask me not to put him on medication for his overly nerviousness, previous owner had over does him with that drug so I was trying with holistic care.

9. Hello everyone It has been a while but I have been around reading all the forums, I need some experts advise for Apollo today, over the month I had Apollo he let his feather grow out beautiully, however, just few days ago he had started flucking his feathers again, and now I can see the skin around the chest area, he hangs upside down from one spot and start flucking so I move the rope he like it so well by hanging put a differernt toys at that spot, but now he tented to hang at his bowing doing it again, nothing has change the far as schudle and food wise I try to discurage him from flucking but he does it anyway, could it be possible that maybe his hormones causing him to do this? and if it is how can I help him to deal with it, I am trying to keep him busy by taking him outside (safe location) few hours a day if the wheather permits, what alse could I do easy him a little?

12. hello casper it is kind of long stoy for Apollo's past but I will give it go. the rescue lady told me he had bee come from very well known breeder and the previous owner didn't know anything about the bird she had took it to vet which I believe it's not certified I have no idea story behind it but she clip leg bend off of him herself and no one know who had clipped his wing I was told that lady was treating bird just like dog, she had given pallots for the bird and take it away an 1 hour later,no fresh food or veggies, the rescue lady said that is the reason he had pluck his feather and eate it to servive on, but my vet things that some one over cliped his wing, because he does not have very much flight feather left when you open his wing center part of hes wing feather is all missing just 3 to 4 tail feather left. oh ah He was on some type of drug which rescue lady said looks like he was little over dose the drugs, don't know what type that was. bird was place at very close to floor where cat and the dog was able to get to him on a very thin metals I guess kind of like you would use to hang flower basket outside,he's self confidents very low and he is very jumpy so I always try to move very slow around him. vet kept telling her he have to have pallots and she was just following. that was some part of the his past life Apollo has very horrible past his feather has has stree mark all the to tip. he alway slep on the top of the cage doors which I da not close. and he is just fine this morning I didn't think hes got enough sleep last night. and yes I am worried about future injury at night I don't know if I get little sleep cage for him what size because none of my bird needs this they play out of ther cage all day when I tell them good night they will go in the cage.
13. well danmcq and thanks for the info you have provided. Apoolo's cage is 36 x 48 and he has alot of other space beside the his cage I was trying to get the atteched but failed but I was able to put it on at photo section with Apollo name atteched and yes he has alot of toys and I to rotated them once week and remake the foot toys once a week as well. when he see me sitting on the couch he does come after me and I do play with him everyday an 1 hr or 2, he has his food in the cage which that is only time he would go in it left side I give pallots and some seeds right side for the fresh food other side of the cage is fresh water. and in the mornings I do hang fresh fruit and veggie around play area for him hnut and pasta for hime to crunch on, and don't worry I do take away fresh fruit befor the lunch time. and he doesn't just stay at boing at my home I had created space for him to play around in if you could just go look at the photo maybe that would answer some what of your question.

Post edited by: shalom, at: 2008/12/01 22:11
14. hello I am new here, stay home mom has teenage daughter tow dog and M2 and conure and I have been reading on this web for long time. my question is about 1 1/2 mo. ago I have adopted congo male 1 1/2 year old name Apollo who has bad feather flucking problem, I have run all blood test with my certified avian vet, and It seems that he is in good health, my vet said that he's wing has been cliped little too much in a such early age to stree him out and it promoted for the flucking, and I am doing alot of other things for him for his feather flucking palm nuts,100% organic aloe vera juice for misting, activities diet etc, which it has been posted very much through this web sight to help does who needs it,my question is that when I adopted the Apollo from rescue group he was never in a cage, he sleept on the pirch or on a boing , she also state that previous owner had never put him in the cage as well,so long story short I left him on a pirch as well which he had being doing fine till last night, when I got up this morning he has bee down, I have tried put him in the cage few time before but he was going crazy in there I really didn't want him to hurt him self or he get so stresed out sart flucking again so I took him back out this morning I thought about getting sleep cage if that would help keep him safe during the night while I am asleep I was wondering if I can get some input from you Post edited by: shalom, at: 2008/12/01 14:43 I was trying to up load picture but failed but I was able to upload at picture sections Post edited by: shalom, at: 2008/12/01 14:44

Post edited by: shalom, at: 2008/12/01 14:50
