1. As already advised. Take her to a good Avian Vet and have her checked with blood work to rule out any physical reason for this behavior. Most plucking I have seen is do to stress which can be brought on by a number of things. Loss of an owner, separation from the owner, other pets attacking the birds cage, temperature/climate wrong ie too cold or hot where you are keeping her, boredom, lack of mental stimulation, lack of physical activity. After your vet check can you tell us how you inteact with her and her environment on a routine basis? Some birds like my Cockatoo require a lot of physical interaction while others do not. Each is an individual so you must deal with each one based upon that birds needs.
 2. Well most feather plucking or chewing is due to stress Whether that is due to boredom, lack of attention, lack of stimulation, separation from you etc. Toys only go so far. Some birds require more handling than others.
 3. Hi all. Rebel is my African Grey Timneh that I have had for the last 25 years. My wife brought him home to console me over my loss of my long time pet Conure. Rebel was a wild caught bird which were still available back then. He was about 1 year old when I got him home. Well 4 months of patient attention and painful at times work with him and Rebel went from a mad wild bird to my little buddy. His intelligence and affection has and is a source of joy. He is still my little buddy. He never did get over his fear of towels which I am reminded of everytime he visits the vet who used one.

Post edited by: AlphaWolf, at: 2008/11/22 00:26
