FYI Sassy woulnd't eat carrots. then I was shredding some up for a dish. She ate the Shredded carrots right up.

I'm not worried about the NOn stick. I was just looking for something that was non stick. the only thing they had was this tin coated stuff.

I haven't seen this question asked on here. forgive if it has been. Was going to shop for some pans for my mom when I give her Sassy. I know currently she has non-stick cookie sheets. I couldn't find any non coated ones except ones that are "Tin plated" are these ok to use?

Cool on the greens! i'm having the same thing with Sassy. trying to figure out WHAT veggies I can get her to eat and how!

I don't mind eating the veggies i'm trying to give her. anything we buy will get eaten. I do eat oatmeal everyday. I just found that on here last night that they can too.

Sassy just wants anything we are eating! I'm guessing this is normal but I just don't want to give her everything! Shes very sweet about it. Just now I was feeding her pasta. At the same time I was eating some Halloween candy. She just strolls on down my arm from my shoulder and tries to get it! Yesterday was pork chops for dinner. She was not happy with the greens and pasta we were sharing with her. shes strolls on down to the table and wants the pork chops! I just don't want her getting into stuff she shouldn't have. I'd like to give her everything but I want her to stay healthy. I can't get her to eat very much vegetables. I've tried carrots, broccoli, bell peppers, jalapeno peppers, lettuce. people food I've only been successful with cheerios, grapes, pasta, and some bread crust.

I plan on seeing if she will take another probably fri. If it turns out i'll make another video. also thinking about giving her to my mom this weekend and will video that.

So Sassy was out in the living room last night with my g/f Jamie happy as can be. letting Jamie hold/pet her even tho Jamie was only around her for a short time on Sunday when we got her and then was gone all week until last night, which makes us both happy. I went to take a shower and just left the door cracked so I could hear what was going on. Sassy jumped off Jamie, then strutted right into the bathroom. By this time I had opened the curtain a bit to see what she was doing. The water was misting out the door on to the shower mat a little and Sassy just stood an watched. After a minute she then started going in and out of the mist. and we couldn't tell if she liked it or didn't. I just thought she seems to not mind it so I put her int he shower some with me. At first she was ont he floor od the shower running back and forth, in and out of the water flapping her wings. Then we got her perch and I held on to it in there and she did the same thing, went back and forth, in and out of the water seeming to love it the whole time. shortly after it started Jamie got the video camera and hopefully this weekend I can post it online for all to see. I have read most all of the shower threads and some say there is a shower perch that can be purchased online. It did help. And thank you guys very much. Jamie decided to make something else in a glass pan just to be safe. We planned on from the beginning not to use teflon pans but this was a case where she has to make a dish for tomorrow and the pan she borrowed to make it was coated. thanks again. Trever & Jamie

Hey all, I'm Trever's other half (besides Sassy for the time being), Jamie. I have a question regarding cooking around Sassy/parrots. I know that Teflon is bad. However, I've read that you can have something with Teflon heated up to 500 degrees before it causes damage? I want to cook something in a bunt pan in the oven at 375. Will it be okay? If there's doubt, would it be okay if we took her downstairs or upstairs away from the kitchen and turned on the fans in the kitchen? (Ceiling fan and stove fan). I'm just trying to figure out how fine the line is between okay and not okay... Sassy is too cool of a bird to lose even if she gets a little "sassy" sometimes! Thanks for your help!

been sitting on my shoulder facing back looking in the room. not as much standing all the time as she is resting her legs sorta squatting. also has a new quiet squeak thing. shes grooming herself on me a lot. I think I'm taking more time to trust her than she is me....

So I've noticed all sassy wants is to be with me. I'm the only one around so I'm not sure if its just me. She is currently on my arm and i'm in the computer room for the first time. just with her hanging out. so far so good. I'm trying to take it slow. I don't want to puch her. I know she hasn't bitten me yet and I know it will probably happen I just want to be ready for it. She likes being on my shoulder but when I can't totally see her Its hard to trust her 100% seeing how shes so new to me. When can I feel more confidant shes not going to take off my ear when I'm least expecting it? She really hasn't made me think she will. Its just something in the back of my head. For the past few minutes shes been on my shoulder just sitting there quiet. When shes on her cage and i'm not around or paying attention to her she is always trying to get it. I have read the other shoulder thread, and she hasn't fought me once on getting her off my shoulder. She is fine with it. but will go back up there the next time I let her.

all sounds like sassy. Seems shes just a normal grey. I'm glad to hear it.

If you have read my previous posts, you know i'm a new grey owner. Sassy has been a great bird so far. I think shes gettin more comfortable here. Today was the first day I had her out of her cage the longest. Its now close to time to go to bed and I put her in her cage. She seemed to get more active, hanging on the side of the cage and really seeming like she wanted me to pick her up. I did that and she sorta flaps her wings like she wants to fly away. which she did some earlier in the night. ( her wings are cut) she will go in and out of the cage easily but once in and if she can see me she gets anxious and seems to be upset. I have left the room and the light is off in her room, she seems to have calmed down but I still wonder what its all about. It just wasn't nice seeing her seeming to be upset and not knowing what it was for. She would not take a grape, which seems to be one of her favorite snacks so far. she ignored everything I did unless it had to do with picking her up. After picking her up she would go to her perch outside the cage or door of the cage and be fine.

I am thinking about getting her there sooner than that now. I'm talking to my brother about it and he seems to be ok with the idea.

what about peppers? I have heard that parrots like peppers and even hot ones like jalapeno's? is this true/ safe?

unfortunately no words yet. I'm not sure how long it will take for her to talk. She is supposed to be able to say hello. She does mimic some clicking sounds that I make and has some new whistles when I fed her pasta tonight.

she eats mainly the peel and drops the rest. is that normal?
